I cant seem to get it right (or the damn things failed).

Spent hours now trying to rid myself of the damn TPS code.

Are there adjustments on the TB that should be checked before adjusting the TPS, aside from ensuring that the valve closes completely?

I mean this cant be too hard. Its my 3rd NA MK3 and Ive had to do this on every one.

Im just wondering if anyone has any pointers for adjusting it.

And another question thats kinda related... Is the TPS error code / checck engine light being on making my car run any different than it would without the code?

Thanks in advance for any replys given.

What code? I got a code for the idle switch in the TPS. Took it apart and resoldered some contacts and such.

Adjustment is very fine and precise, but if yours is acting like mine was, it will be impossible to get it within specs without rebuilding/replacing it.

I always found it to be super easy to test by using a spare TPS connector with stripped wires to touch the Ohmmeter probes to. Works every time. :)

buy an ohmmeter from harbor freit or someplace. get the aligator clips that go withit. You also need a feeder gauge at like .58mm. refer to the tsrm.

http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=FI&P=103

but wedge the feeder gauge into behind the tb by the stop screw (refer to the tsrm again).

apply the tps to the tb and and screw in the screws. not all the way, but enough for adjusting easily. clip the ohmmeter to the tps like it says in the tsrm. (previously stated). turn the tps i think clockwise till you get an obscure reading. on my meter is said "VL" or something. in the tsrm is said till the meter deflects. i was told the tps is a switch and you are just adjusting it to where is opens up and it tells the ecu when you are at open throttle. adjusting it is about halfway. at first its confusing, but once you do it, its cake.

if you don;t adjust it right, i know with my experiences, it was loose power and seem like predetonation at around 2 to 2.5k and would run like crap.

if you need to and confused, pm me and i'll post pictures.

Thanks everyone for your mindful input and sorry for the lack of responding to my own post as well.

The code haunting me is 41 and will hopefully be solved after I install the one I recieved yesterday from my WTB post I made in the classified section.

Every response to my question so far has reinforced my confidence that I am going about the adjustment correctly and that purchasing a known working one was a good move.

The suggeston about the extra connectior removed from a harness shaeff mentioned is a great idea.

AC is never on. It does not work. I dont think there is enough refrigerant in the system to actuate the switch for the compressor.

Ill for sure be update this thread one Im done installing the used one I just got
