I have one of the last gen Echo hatch/vitz/yaris...the one the Canadians got and the US didn't. Great daily driver for booting to and from work and the grocery store, and quicker than the new yaris are (lighter and slightly smaller car overall). I'm not big on the new style, and features per dollar the Honda Fit has a slight edge on it, at least in the Canadian market. The US options packages may offer more than we get here. I'd check them both out before setting your sights on the Yaris alone!

Heck, I've hauled most of the rebuild bits of the supra in it too with the seat down. A hoist with an engine swing in if you lay the motor on it's side!

Yaris actually looks realluy good, both versions. A Toyota dealer had one in the showroom and it was lowered, bigger rims, nice Charcool paint and a full on body kit and it looked awesome. All it needed was a small supercharger or a turbo and that would top it off nicely. I would like to have one as a fun toy :)

Yeah, what Joe said. It's a cool car. I still prefer the Echo 3-door RS hatch though... so fun, and looks nicer too IMO, less of a pig look, heh.

I dunno, I mean the gas is great but I would be afraid to drive it, so many soccer moms with massive SUVs. I would feel safer in a tin can on wheels.
I mean what happens when u wreck? they peel the top off of it like a sardins(sp?) can?

$22 700 ( Cnd incl. Tax) for the top line, I think thats expensive, if you think you can get a top the line Mazda3 for $25 000 ( Cnd incl. Tax)
Dont get me wrong I think the car is great.

that's because they're idiots and they think having a gigantic car = safety.
good driving is safety, not having an SUV. just be a good driver. BTW, I would be more worried about hitting an mk3. Even SUV's that are made recently are designed to crumple and absorb impact.
