So I ordered a HG from Toyota. It arrived in an insanely large box, like they always do from Champion and on one of the water jackets, the copper is slightly dented. It's enough to feel with your finger. I bent the jacket straight so now the only problem is the dent.

Here are pics from before I got the jacket to lie flat. The dent is still there even after the mending.

This is for my 88 auto turbo that will remain perfectly stock. Just doing a clean rebuild, not upgrading anything, not even simple exhaust or intake. Truly stock.

Ok to use this? How much do the copper jackets get compressed when installed? I'll be using copper spray as well.

I would call them asap, and let them know it was DOA... dented on arrival, (I made a funny) :nono:
If you use it and it breaks, I'm sure it will void any warranty it has.

You'll have to weigh the options of time it takes to wait for a replacement head gasket and time it takes to do another head gasket job.

Ya, either way I'll be calling them on Monday to see what the return procedure would look like.

We're still waiting on a few other things so time is no biggie.

Pretty sure we'll be sending it back, but just wanted a few opinions from people around here.

^^ thats what i was thinking. But never had real experience from it so i would not know for sure. Safest bet is just to call them and see what they could do with it.

It would most likely be fine, however if you feel unsure, you may want to get a new one.

Ditto, there's quite a lot of crush of the base material when installed but for peace of mind replace it as a HG install on a 7M is an easily botched job.

Why chance it? If time is the issue, then, wouldn't you be further behind if it leaked?.
