I come from a land down under
More misinformation......

Hands up who here has broken one?

They "can" break if shock loaded, I ran mine at 500+rwhp daily for many 1000's of KM's and the only failure I had was losing a pinion bearing during a highspeed run and guess what I had an identical failure using an LSD...

I have broken 5 torsens. I have gone back to a clutch type LSD and never looked back. You dont need torque to break it, trust me when I say that. I also have driven well over 120,000 miles on my car in three years and at stock power levels the diffs are exploding. The only ones that seam to last are the clutch type LSD.

Now with the HKS twins installed the last diff was a torsen and it blew up from 1st gear to 2nd gear shift, wile traveling at about 40 MPH! It also destroyed my crossmember.

Smart guy eh....? guess what???......U don't either:slap:

Just got back from tunning... 468rwhp @20psi. Did 485 but started to run out of fuel. Back it up a bit.

I don't think I'll break the SC Torsen, same one on the MKiv Torsen. They hold a punch..... I am saying this and crossing my fingers at the same time.

The MKIII JDM 4.1 torsen ='s garbage dont waste your $400 on them.
They are better for drifting If they last for long.

Save up and buy a good aftermarket one or modify a mkiv one to work.

Also if you decide not to steer clear of them like we recomend dont buy one on egay for $400 and try and use it on your USDM setup it is not a driect fit you need the half shaft set only when using this diff & I think the GA70 haves weird ones.

Well I recently got a stock 4.30 LSD for my supra to replace my open diff but I would really like something smaller than 4.30! Any suggestions that'll work with high hp?

with the 4.30 on a 1J you still top out at 168mph at 7200 rpm. do you really need to go faster than that???
Code:
Gear Mph per 1000 RPM Mph @6800 RPM Mph @7200 RPM
--------------------------------------------------------
  1 5.29 36 38
  2 8.96 61 65
  3 13.04 89 94
  4 17.47 119 126
  5 23.29 158 168
thats the gearing with a 4.30 rear end

owell tried to line it up the best i can but this thing wont let me

you get the idea

I put mine in with a 3.73 for my setup instead. Looks about right! 2nd gear tops around 70...and 3rd gear all the way to 100. fun stuff!! I really like the 3.73 rear end.
