as someone using these tools day in and day out here is my suggestion. It depends on what you are going to torque. Back in the day i did not own a torque wrench i had to rent one from autozone for head jobs on my turbo maxima. Never had a problem, and that car went through hell.
The value of the wrench is to make sure all bolts are torqued the same, not the actual value on some thing like a head (within reason) meaning a few pounds won't kill you. But on internal components it's make it or break it. The best cheap one for the money is huskey (home depot) this matched my 400.00 snap on for set value as challenged by another tech.
