Why .60 over? Why not .40, since anything including and over that is making the block too weak, IMO.

Im going .40 over, but im going to rent this out so im making it .60 over for those that want to bore .60 over.

You could go .125 overbore on the plate, it does not matter. You want to bore and hone the block, not the plate. This is why a torque plate is larger in bore than the max you ever want to bore the block.

Ian - My Ti came from in town here. Timken is only a few miles away. No night lights or sun tan hands here.

I don't understand the point of making a torque plate out of titanium.
radioactive or not... ;)
The whole point of a torque plate is to reproduce the stresses on the block that bolting down a head would cause. The head itself is not some infinitely rigid block, so how are you doing a better job by making the plate stiffer with titanium?
That's not even overkill, that's just overspending.

I did it just to be the biggest baller on the forum.

The thickness of my titanium yields no more stress than the 4 times thickness of the head. This is not formula 1, it is 7m street/strip motors.

Besides, if you could get some Timken titanium for free from a left over Babcock and Wilcox job, you would too.

yes I would.

(doesn't sound like that was a small job...I doubt there are any small jobs for B&W)

Rich, where do you live? B&W was in my old hometown of Barbertucky, I figure you're probably pretty close if you were working with B&W and Timken.
