Well if I follow the TSRM's order of install it wants you to have the lower intake, the cams, water fitting, egr cooler, etc, etc... installed before even dropping the head onto the block.

The engine is currently on a stand and we all know how much easier it is to install and torque it down without the cams installed. I'm inclined to drop the head on bare, torque it down and then move on. Any issues or advice on my thinking?

Thanks in advance.

P.S.
All surfaces are straight and have been double checked.

It's easier to install the exhaust manifold and lower intake manifold on the head with it out of the car, but it's a lot heavier. If you have a cherry picker, this is not a problem.

Also attach the coolant lines to the block return line at the rear and to the lower intake fitting. Def install the EGR cooler plate and the EGR fitting that attaches to the head before you drop the head in.

Torquing the head down is easier IMO with the cams removed...make sure you follow the torque sequence for the cams. Checking shim and cam bearing clearances is a good idea ;)

I prefer old and lazy :biglaugh:

And to be honest, I missed you had it on a stand...I would have done what you did and install it bare, then bolt all the other parts on ;)
