horrible, gaudy, ricer, uuuugly. Please don't buy it and put it on your car.

I hope you dont feel that way when I show up at tx next year with one on my car. I am making my steel hood look like that, only the vents further back and the cowl raised 2 inches.

Interesting to see an actual one.

Many years ago, I did some measuring and came up with this. The red parts above were theoretical rain channels.

I talked with people randomly that were interested and still one day hope to produce some, however that day is, just like before, still a long ways off.

ok im gonna lay down my opinion after hearing all urs....

If u want to argue over which "functions better", Stout hood wins hands down. not because of the amount of vents, but the specific locations each serving a specific purpose. The Top Secret style hood is NOT practical for our cars as it is and was made for the mkiv. on the mkiv the vents are closer twoards the middle to actaully help heat dissapate from the motor as well as has another vent specifcally for thebackside of the turbo on mkiv TS hoods. this hood pictured have the vents far to the sides cause messing with the cowl lines down the center would looks horrible. MKIV hoods dont have that cowl to worry about.

This Top Secret Style hood is honestly just for a different LOOK! and if u think ur gonna rock this TS hood and clear a strut bar across the motor ..... :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh: good luck.

i had already talked with Curtis at Modelista years ago when helping him with his JGTC widebody mkiv project car for a customer. he wanted to make us a TS hood similar to this one but eliminate the cowl lines on the hood of our cars. but then the nose peice would have to be modified too cause the nose peice has the cowl lines as well. pretty much told him not to folow through with this look for our cars. still stand the same.

So in short, not a hood to compare to a stout. :3d_frown:

IF there is enough demand the hood can be replicated.

I love it. I think the square looking vents fit perfectly with the boxier MKIII body, I've never really liked the hood much on MKIVs. As for functionality, I think the vents on the exhaust side really will help. I currently have a hole a bit forward from that on my car's hood from a failed project and realized there is a LOT of heat in that area. Having vents there would do at least a little to extract the hot air. I'm in the market for a new hood and would definately buy one of these if it gets made relatively soon. Is it going to be made in fiberglass or carbon fiber?

Mike, you're cool enough to pull it off, so I'll agree with the others and say it'll look good on certain cars..............I don't mind the small scoop in front of the turbo, but I'm not a fan of the vents.................I know, I know.......my opinion doesn't count for much.........:biglaugh:
