alright, now that i got you guys in here, my engine has oil all over the right side of the motor and NO its not leaking. i came in here asking how the hell i can go about cleaning it, i've heard that you run the motor and then spray the engine cleaner on it, let it sit and then rinse it off. am i missing something here or is that all there is to it.

input is very welcome!

I've heard of doing that as well...to just run it, spray on the cleaner and rinse off carefully. I'd really make sure to rinse carefully. Cover electrical components (battery, alternator, coilpacks, sensor plugs etc).

Depending on how much oil you have and if its in tricky places, you could spray on some carb cleaner and go at it with a wire brush to break it down. Then you could just wipe it off with some other simple green type cleaner.

jesus when i saw him spray down his engine with water i was like WTF.

so for the 2jz engine you only have to cover the filter.
And like in post 2 you have to cover the alternator, spark plugs....etc

when i cleaned my engine bay i masked off my k&n filter wth a plastic bag and tape, disconected and removed the battery then used a pressure washer and used the detergent pickup to spray down the enginebay with "PURPLE POWER" and rinsed it. Worked great and i'm a big fanof purple power seeing as how its biodegradable, nontoxic ,cheap and works very well if you don't have a pressure washer a gardon sprayer and a gardon hose works well as well

I'd second Purple Power. Its incredible on wheels. Usually you have to use your fingers, sponge, rag or whatever to really get ALL traces of dirt off, well Purple Power takes it off without the outside use of anything else. Like ^ said, I bet it does work wonders on an engine.

Oh and dont inhale Purple Power, it hurts.

Cover the altenator, cps (unless you recently changed the seal). and whatever else looks like water could get it. Used compressed air to get the water out of the electrical connections, spark plug gally, and wherever else it collects. Run the motor after to make sure all the rest evaporates

Yeah i've gotten it at schucks and napa, good stuff, very strong!

I used it for most of my degreasing and parts cleaning, after the cost of picking up so many bottles of Gunk, i decided to try the PP, I'll never use gunk again :)

most parts stores carry it some times you can even find it a dollar general stores in the auto care section and do not dulut it at all 100% is the only way to go. do not breath it does hurt so don't go spraying it on any thing hot that makes it worst

*sigh*

purple power will EAT YOUR PAINT AND ALUMINUM!! It will also dry out your rubber parts. Purple Power is the same formulation as castrol super clean...

NEVER EVER use a pressure washer on your engine bay as it will put enough pressure to defeat most seals. If you have an aftermarket intake, cover it, and use the engine degreaser on the engine bay. Use brushes to get the really nasty stuff loose, and then wait however long it says on the directions and then spray it down WITH A NORMAL HOSE!

Everything under your hood will take the soaking of water if it's in good condition (cracked or missing CPS covers, shoddy wiring, ect should be covered). The only place I'd be warry of is the spark plug valley as water will get down in there and cause misfires...

The best stuff ever i have found out there works with verry little effort is

one squirt this stuff is powerfull not the regular simple green i buy this stuff by the gallon!

100% bio degradable but pretty gentel on elctrical and aluminum this stuff is great and almost polishes the surface as it cleans the only cleaner i like better then it is goo gone for electrical and removing glue goo gone is perfectly safe on electronics smells good is non conductive and what we used on medical equipment.

quite frankly a wet sponge w/ soapy water is what i use.

if its greasy, i use that gojo hand cleaner. it takes the oil off of your hands w/ a quickness and a bit of a grit to rub stuff out and it wont take your paint off.
