i was looking at the thing that showed the top 10 engines... i dont remember where i saw it at.. but they had a 3sgte engine at place 4... ive been looking into their engines because my friend is doing a swap in his celica and putting one of those in... what i dont get is that they can only hold like 300-400 hp on them being stock... Whats up with that with can go way above that on our 7m why arent we on that list... i know we have trouble with rod-knock and hg but thats because of poor maintenece IMO...

just thought i would through this up

best engine doesn't always have to be defined as the one that makes the most power.

just FYI, BHG isn't really poor maintence. you can check your oil and top off your coolant all you want, but they still blow. rodknock, yeah... ill give you that one.

Yeah, replacing a headgasket is so much more expensive than buying a new engine.:icon_conf

Don't pay attention to the ricer magazines. I remember a while back SCC magazine telling a reader to not buy an MK3 supra, and buy an Integra GSR instead..

uhh why would you? rod knock in the 7m is due not to the design of the engine, but to the owners........

12x,xxx mile and never a BHG. As a matter of fact when i took oem HG to replace with metal the OEM HG was in good condition. Why? Because I knew better than to turn boost up on a 120,000 mile motor :3d_frown:

I have the issue in my hand. (Super Street Apr 06) Here are the Top engines in the order that are listed:

13B-REW Mazda Rx7
2JZ-GTE Toyota Supra
3S-GTE Toyota All-Trac Celica, MR2
4G63 Mitsubishi eclipse, Evolution
B16/B18 Acura Integra,Honda Si
D16 Honda Civic, CRX
EJ20 Subaru WRX
RB26DETT Nissan Skyline GT-R
K20 Acura RSX, Honda Civic Si
SR20DET Nissan 180SX, Pulsar GTi-R,Silvia

I must say for the most part I agree because all these engines can take a licking and keep on ticking. I believe the 7MGTE is nasty but needs a little help to take the same abuse. If anything, I would call the 7MGTE the best underated engine but just a little off from the top ten. Not by too much though.
