Would love to see your finished project.
Question, Morganson: Which brand of wires are you using? I bought blue NGK's, but would rather have red ones, purely for aesthetics.
Also, your Middle coil(sitting on plug 3) seems to sit straight, whereas mine tilts slightly to clear a bolt casting. Did you grind on something a bit?

I FINALLY got around to doing this mod today. I routed my wires so that the connector section could route under the oem harness as it crosses the intake valve cover.

PS- I would also like to point out for people starting with a brand new harness, that the oem striped wire colors in the TSRM do not apply.
The new harnesses have solid wire colors:
Tan- common signal line
Black- Coil 1/6 (sitting on 6)
Green- Coil 3/4 (sitting on 3)
White- Coil 2/5 (sitting on 2)

And to clarify what I did for my harness extension in order to route it this way:

I extended all four wires 1 inch behind the main plug, approximately 7 inches.
Coil connection to 1/6 was extended approximately 9 inches.
Coil connection to 3/4 was extended approximately 8 1/2 inches.
Coil 2/5 was not extended at all.

No you are correct it does sit at a slight angle. But i am thinking of adjusting that.
As for the wires i got off ebay. They are STI, i payed 26.50 to my door. Pleasant suprise. I thought i was buying salvage wires lol.
As for the rest of this i got the plate cut out today. I used 1/4 in phenolic. I still have to figure out the plug wires but when i get done this may look ok. But if any one has or has access to a wood printer that would make this so much easier...
Ill get pics up when i get the chance.

Alright folks. This thing is mocked up, mounted and measured on my test head. Its tight but should look clean when installed. I have some pics ready but the plate is being painted now so the wood look isnt staying.

Very neat. Great job.
NowHow do you have the plate held down- Did you add another 'threaded' socket towards the center of the head(like the one normally found at the back)?

No sir i made two bridges spaning the valve covers on either end. I only use two bolts, no bolt is nessesary in the middle the phenolic is more than strong enough to hold it all down. You could go thicker but i chose 1/4 in. Holds up just fine.

i just finished my conversion, and now i'm having a problem. for anyone listening/reading, it'l start, run for a few seconds, and shut off. i'm not getting any codes either, and the harness was extended and properly soldered and protected. all my wires were extended meticulously, making sure not to criss-cross anything. any words of advice?

My car did the same thing and it turned out to be the cps wires.

Hey

Are the coils supposed to "clip" on the spark plugs same way that wires does? mines are just sitting on them. Also the coils have little spring in them that can be removed.
i started the car and it runs but just wondering if thats ok or maybe i need different spark plug tips..
