I've seen recently allot of questions concerning Security here on this and other forums. I have also seen posts from many folks whose Supras have been stolen. Maybe you should be a little more cautious with allowing posts of such topics as key pictures, where is your hidden kill switch is, where exactly are you located, topics like that. You might bend a few folks BUT you might keep a few more folks from losing their Supras.

If I wanted to post a thread stating where and when I would leave my car unlocked and keys in the ignition; That would not be the Moderators responsibility.

I need the Insurance money anyway :naughty:

I'd say this is one's own responsibility, the Moderators don't have to oversee one's stupidity of giving away information that may put you or your property in danger.

If you don't want your personal information posted... don't post it.

:withstupi Not calling any one stupid but I agree w/ both points of the argument. It isn't the responsabilty of the mods to hold everybodies hands and tell them not to post something because it gives too explicit info. That should be decided by the individual member and if they are ok w/ posting that type of info. If any thing happens to THEIR car than that is their fault, not the mod's or any other members.(Unless they stole the car or helped steal it.) Look at the ratio of Mods to members, they can't possibly keep tabs on what every member posts in every section and every thread. That's my $0.02.

I'm not saying this should be done...but it should be talked about.

People should be able to take care of them self’s in a perfect world but there are to many idiots out there and a little help is needed from a higher power now and then to protect those idiots.

I'm sure we have all done something we regret and if someone was there to step in and say NO! then we could have saved ourselfs a lot of heart ach/money/whatever.

The mods here are not paid...they give up very much of their precious time to run this site. I think the last thing they want to do is babysit idiots that can't take care of themselves...

this thread is a waste.:kloguck:

it is the users responsibility to keep them selves safe. you think it should be yet ANOTHER responsibility of the mods to look for posts that may contain "sensitive" information? i personally think that is unreasonable.

I think in the user's agreement for the site there is (or should be) a clause that releases the owner and moderators of supramania from liability of any damages, loss, etc from the use of the forums.

USE ONLINE FORUMS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

There will always be scumbags looking to take people for a ride, especially on the internet. Let's not make the mods' lives any tougher by trying to offload our personal responsibilities onto them...

I would hate Forums or the like to start getting sued and put out of business when they are here for the people at not cost to them.

Agree 100%, it would be nice to prevent pain and heartache. But failure is a learning experience. If we protect people from their own failures, they become dependent on those who protect them. Losing a car through an online scam would be awful, I agree. But it is up to each individual to protect themselves.

Users of any public forum must be aware of the risks and use some common sense and brainpower to protect themselves.

Does that make sense, or am I being unreasonable?

This is the way it is people. Just like with buying and selling. We will do our best to educate our users as to what the safe practices are, however the final responsiblity falls on each of you, not the site admins.

In other words, use your head.
