So, lately Ive been thinking about if I want to swap in a 1jz, which I could probably have by the end of the year, or use the money to just make the 7m go faster. Your thoughts would be appriciated.

The 7M is a good engine despite the BHG issue, but the 1JZ is what should have been in the supra from the beginning. It's a shame that the Japanese got it and not the rest of us
I havent looked into a 1JZ too much but from what Ive seen, I think it'd be pretty neat to have one in there. I love the 7M engines, I know them top to bottom (the GE now anyways) and Ive liked working with them. I have no experience with the 1JZ but maybe one day. If you have the extra mulah, get a 1JZ, why not?
i was looking at some jdm motor shop, they said you can only put the 1jz in 91+ supras. is that true, the original poster has an 87 in his sig. just curious if its possible on an 87?

Well, you can do it on any MA70 IIRC.
It used to be because of the front crossmember needed changing to the 90+ crossmember, but I have been reliably informed that you can use custom mounts from BIC Performance ($179), instead of having to do all the crossmember stuff.

Yeah... only problem I've run up against, is that most of the 1JZ (this is what Mike Hooper @ Jarco told me) have got 70-80k miles.
For me, that's like pulling one extremely tired motor out (190k 7m) and dropping in a less tired motor (the 1JZ)
It's looking more and more like I'm going to just build a completely fresh 7M rather than go with a used motor.
