I've been doing some reading and never knew head bolts should be retorqued early into the break in period. Its been 6+K miles since my rebuild with new ARP (at the time of rebuild) everything. Is it a good idea to retorque after so many miles? I'm not positive what kind it is but all i know is its a 2.0mm metal HG in there.

Headbolts.. i would consider a retorque.

Headstuds, no need to.

Edit: Massive brainfart moment!

I am leaving my initial response just for sake of non partialism :)

Head studs do in fact require a re-torque. Heat cycling tend to settle stuff down......

Sorry to thread jack, but i did not want to make a whole new thread. Is it a good idea to re torque after just about 500-800 miles? I replaced the head gasket on my 7mge with a stock replacement and new Toyota oem head bolts about 5-800 miles ago. I did a re torque after 4 heat cycles, but should i do it again after this amount of time? I am mostly concerned because the head bolts are brand new and may have stretched a little bit. I was reading that it could be dangerous because you could get coolant under the sealing surfaces? Maybe that was only if you hadn't already done a re torque? Thanks for any clarification!

Retorquing is easy. My question would be: Why not? ;)

The safest way to find out if you should is * just do it * it can't hurt it as long as you don't keep going up in torque keep it to what you had it the first time, Hopefully not 54 ft-lbs :)
