So I've wanted to get involved in the stock market for like 5 years now, and recently I've started to get more and more serious about it. Are there any good places online where you can control the buying and selling yourself? And what all is involved in getting started with the market? Thanks for your time. (hope everyone enjoyed their 4 day weekend)

I went and had a chat with a local stock broker. Its best to get professional advice on this matter unless you just like to waste your money. They can usually put you in the right direction. Obviously you'll want to diversify your funds, some in agressive funds, bonds, etc & some in conservative funds, bonds, etc.. as well. The more agressive a particular stock or mutual fund is the more risk involved. I personally would stay away from "day trading" unless you have a specific allotment of monies for that sort of thing and as long as you dont let yourself get addicted to that kinda shit. It can and will ruin you before you know it. Good companies to chat with would be like Franklin-Templeton Investments, Edward Jones, Fidelity Investments just to name a few. Good luck.
