I found one thread about the Titan Motorsports gasket but it only mentions that the cometic and the Titan are similar. But i was wonderign are there any differences between the two? they are both multi layer gaskets and im gonna need one for my 400 hp motor im building up :D

All i know is i THOUGHT the Titan was a Greddy, but i'm probably just pulling that outta my ass ;)

But if the Titan is not the same as a Cometic, i do know you should get a Cometic because it has the most forgiving RA of about 50

i have a titan, had the head brought to 25ra, and worked the block my self,

so far it's holding.. done a few burnouts and a few highway pulls. around 10psi, haven't turned it up yet through.

I come from a land down under
I had a 2mm TMS in my first test motor and it was great with minimal prep ie: ra50ish

I let go in all 6 cylinders after losing an injector on the dyno burning a hole through the piston pressurising the crankcase filling the PCV>IC>Intake with Oil and as we know Oil won't compress hence all 6 blown!

Yeah, that sucked Ian :icon_razz

Mine was about a 50ra as well. Held up fine, but started to leak slowly into the CC's and also would pressurize the cooling system. I did beat the shit out of that engine for about 2 years though....

I had a Titan and it looked alot more like the HKS MHG. So similar prepping for a gasket that isn't as forgiving with the surfacing.

i believe that the titan gasket is modeled after the HKS mls gasket, and requires a finer RA to get it to seal properly.

a cometic is more forgiving than both the titan and the HKS.

That's what I was alluding to shaeff :)

oh i know! i was just adding to your already correct information. :)

and yes, studs are better in that they don't have to overcome the friction of the head to reach the desired torque specification, meaning you get a more accurate torque reading. after 1k miles, re-torque them (i'm about to do this, actually) and then they never need to be re-torqued again. not even if you pull the head and put it back on. (though, why not? it's easy, and a good safety measure.)
