hey all..... thought i would post this up, to see what everyone thinks etc...

currently building this for a forum member Kim aka MK3_7m {as i think i'm the only insane case in Melbourne Victoria (Aus) that would accept the custom work lol...}

his car is a Manual 86.5 MK3 supra with Targa Roof so here goes....

basicly new engine....

Mahle pistons + rings + gudgeons
Trust MLS head gasket
Gates timing belt
New oil pump
New water pump
New tensioner
ARP stud kit
New gasket and seal kit
New main + big end bearings
Full chem clean
bore + hone to suit new pistons
crank linished
balanced rotating assy
cryo'd rods
Head reco + skim, valves reseated etc
assembled by a performance engine builder
everything has been cleaned and painted so it looks like new.

supporting mods

AFC NEO,
pte 550cc
walbro 255 fuel pumo
aeromotive AFPR
evo 9 BOV plumb back :p
evo 6 intercooler
3inch elbow & down pipe
custom made 3 inch exhuast

and the chosen huffer is the: sound performance turbo sp61gt non BB (apparently the first one to be run in Aus.... go figure...)

heres some progress pics so far... dont worry if your following this i will keep you updated...

Kim's basicly said, he wants the engine in and running around 450bhp (dont remember if it was ATW or not but lets see how we go)... so i'm left with free range to go nuts with ideas..... so lets begin.... the pictures should show everyone what the image in my head was....

so the car was originally N/A right.... so to get the turbo engine in we had to use a new loom from a turbo car... seemed fine and dandy till i found out it was an Auto loom with a S*#T load of extra wires, and using an Auto ecu set to neutral... so this was almost a few days head ache...

at the current stages...

oil relocation lines and etc...
sm_photo_missing.jpg

fabricating new mounts for Alternator in A/C position, the flex brace on the back is missing but you get the picture...

my version of the FFIM (i cant believe some of the bloody prices' some places want for a custom one and only in the US so add shipping etc... its like selling a kidney!) loads cheaper and less headaches from moving everything around for the custom one.... owning a plasma cutter really does come in handy, if you really hated someone, just write "YOUR A ........" permanently :p

current situation.....

oil filter mounted behind driver side fog light (well US passenger side), with larger oil cooler and Earls oil thermostat. -10AN fittings all round

i shall keep you all posted..

Cheers,
Jerome..

interesting "ffim" kinda like it! keep this thread alive

I was thinking the same thing. This setup opens up a few different creative routing possibilities on the cheap as well as keeping it super simple. It's always great to see other peoples ideas
Thanks for sharing

Nice FFIM. I like it. It is the only thing I liked about the 1GGTE. I suppose if you wanted you could get those adhesive heat sinks from ARC and attatch them to the piping as well.

What are you planning on doing with the Alt. Ron R makes a nice drop down bracket. Try PMing him

Nice work on the manifold, I saw one like that on SupraForums like 7 years ago, but this one is definitely better. Maybe a vender will pick up on this idea and make a cheaper solution for everyone else.

Great job for thinking outside the box!

Definitely interesting and creative solution for a FFIM. Now there is ample room on the extra runner for nitrous, water / alcohol inj., IAT, PCV, IAC, etc...

now your thinking! :evil2:

awesome idea on the ffim man. kudos to you i looked at it and literally said...why the fuck hasn't anyone else done this on a 7m?

ahaha yer cuz its basically what we said when i built it..... although i was under the consumption of *caugh* beer *caugh* when i was planning it lol...

thanks for the comments guys, i'm hoping this will be a new change in keeping the 7M rather then moving to a 1j or 2j etc....

i now have the jig for these "adapters", so i might make a few more with full instructions etc for installations and what you need and what parts you can steal from other cars around you and so on...... other wise wait a few months or so and some big random company will jack my idea and mass produce in some shitty thin alloy and tag it as there own..... oh well such as life ey guys!

but..... YOU SEEN IT HERE FIRST ON SUPRA MANIA!!!..... (well at least this version! that could have been some kind of advertising LOL!)

more work Friday...... stay tuned.....

I come from a land down under
Doesn't make a lot of sense looping the Hot pipe around over the top of the turbine housing like that....

I like the FFIM adaptor the GTE manifold is proven to have excellent distribution.

now that i look at it.

A. im going to steal that ffim idea and

B. IJ pointed out a very good point you should flip your u bend over i think it will keep the flowing air cooler since its not going over the hot side of the turbo.
