Ok, I did it. It was my first time, and it felt good. I bought some 205/50ZR-16 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's. $56 each closeout price from Tirerack.com. It still sounds too good to be true right now. I'll see when they come in. Locally, I couldn't find anything under $80/tire. And those where some Kumho's. I wasn't looking to spend alot on my daily driver ('01 Protege ES). Now with these Eagle F1's my car can handle better, brake quicker, accelerate faster, and now have a top speed of 200+mph!!11!1!1!! lol.

Ok, ok. I'm just happy to get new tires. I'll be stepping up from Yokahama AVS's that are currently on the car. If it's a step up. Unfortunately, with this tire size all I can get are high performance tires, so everything is expensive. No regular passenger tires for me. I wish I could get those 4 for $100 cheapies that are always on sale. Hell, this Protege is just an econobox, not a corvette.

It's Not Important Bro
discounttiredirect.com "a shameless plug" - They did me right on tires and wheels too. It was the only place that had the 5 Zigen with the offset I wanted.

Just an FYI, Discount tires is owned by Tirerack now as well as a few others like Evans Tire. I bought a set of Goodyear rain and snow tires from Tirerack and had them 2nd day fedexed for 55.00 to my daughter in Alaska cause she was getting prices in the 200.00 a tire range up there. I've been getting prices from Tirearck and having Discount match the price including shipping for almost tens years now. I buy all my Goodyears from Discount that way. the last three sets of 245/50-16 F1's for my supra came from there, they are a class act.

Over the last 16 years I've bought at least 12 complete set (all 4 tires)from the Tire Rack. I haven't had an issue or a bad experence yet. They are increadebly knowledgable and do all their own testing.
