Tire sizes/spacers for MK4 TT wheels

Guys,

I just went through every page of the wheel and tire thread and didn't find anything on this.

I was wondering if I can get some people to post up some pictures of different tire sizes on the mk4 TT wheels installed on MK3's. I want to go 255/275 but want to see what the tires look like on the wheels before I go ahead with it. Also it appears I may need to run a spacer in the front so I would like to see how different size spacers look on there.

I just purchased TT wheels so I want to determine what tire sizes will be the best. I am debating between the 235/40 - 255/40 and the 255/40 -275/40 setups.

You don't need spacers for the stock MKIV TT rims. For the rear use 275/40-17 and for the front use 245/40-17. It may be possible to put a 255 on the front, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I knew you didn't need it, but I know +50 isn't the best fitment with a 8" wheel up front. Really I am just looking for pictures of different tire setups with or without spacers to see what i think looks the best and obviously doesn't rub.

I've never heard of people rubbing unless they lowered thier Supra's too much. I seriously doubt anyone has used a spacer with these wheels.

Though not needed, I've seen some use spacers to be more flush with the wheel wells, especially in the front.

I used a 15mm spacer in front to clear brakes on a car I don't have anymore. 10mm would be better as the car did rub the fender sometimes. That was with a 245 tire and the car was really low.

I put 23mm in front and 28mm in the back and I got the wheel to where I want them.

Yes you can put a 255 on the front.

Here's 255/45 on the front, 285/40 on the back. People usually like to put a 25mm spacer on the front so the wheels sit more flush, but it's not required.

I have tt wheels w no spacers running general exclaim 245 & 275's on by springs. Illtake pics when I can and post them up. I am going to eventually put spacers on the front either 10mm or different

I was running MKIV TT wheels w/ 275/40 rear and 255/40 front Falken Azenis RT-615's. Very slight rubbing at full lock either way, but that can be fixed by adjusting the bump stops. No spacers on mine.

i have 245-45-17 in thr front, 275-40-17in the rear.
the front rub on my st swaybar. and i haveN,t even put my tie rod spacers on yet.
i will eventually put on a smal spacer in the front, so that th wheel is a little more flush, which should also stop the rubbing!

Correct, no spacers in my picture.

I forgot to add, the fronts rub slightly on the swaybar at full lock. You can adjust the bumpstops a little to compensate.

ok, so from what I have seen the rears are fine without a spacer, and the fronts could use a small spacer.

Please keep the pics coming, from what I have seen 255/275 doesn't look goofy on the wheels (tires too wide for the wheels) so i will probably go with that for tire sizes. Still unsure about running the spacers up front. I am on the stock 92' suspension.

If you have stock suspension you will be perfectly fine. I used to run 245's upfront on mine and I still do on my new wheels. I didn't want anything wider.

Keep in mind that spacers larger than ~10mm will need longer wheels studs to achieve the proper number of turns with the lug nuts. Also, make sure that the spacers are hub centric.

Actually, if you're going to be running spacers that big, I would hope you're running some with studs built in.

ill probably end up running no spacers. Ill see what i think once I get them on.

i have a set of mkiv wheels ill be putting in soon and was wondering if anyone had a clear picture of their front wheels with either 10, 15, 20, or 25 mil spacers. so i can decided which to buy instead of trial and error
