Timing problem

Hi, i have problems seting my timing correctly, i jumper the conectors in the diagnostic box , move the tps, cps, adjust the air screw driver and i can´t get anything better than 15º, and when it is there, when i drive it, it runs bad, bad, bad, it stalls, and detonates, i advance it like 20 to 25º it runs better, feels faster but i hear little backfire and when turbo spools it detonates too, but less than 15º ( a lot less, almost not noticable, but code 52 helps to tell for sure). i installed the cps acording to tsrm. I have read that people have this problem but never gave back the solution, Please help :1zhelp:

If you're getting a code 52 the ECU will be pulling back your timing making your results unreliable. It's either that or maybe your a tooth off on the CPS.

What's an "air screw driver?"

1) The ECU will not disable the ESA system and allow initial timing to be set unless the IDL input is grounded. That comes from the TPS. Check for a code 51 with the throttle fully closed. You should not have it. If you do the TPS must be adjusted or replaced.

2) Verify both valve timing is correct and the CPS is installed properly.

3) Code 52 doesn't mean the engine is/was knocking. It means the knock sensors or their wiring is faulty.

jajaja i was tring to say the screw to adjust the idle in the 87 supra turbo, what is the voltage of the tps closed properly to get the idle?

Read what he said. Its a switch so don't worry about the voltage.

Make sure that you are not getting a code 51 (with the TE1 jumpered to ground) before you test the timing.

Its easy to test, just sit in the drivers seat with the ign on and the diag jumpered (make sure A/C is off) . Hit the gas, you should see code 51 release the peddle, and the code goes away. If it doesn't do that, you need to diagnose the TPS per the TSRM.
