I'm looking into getting a cheap timing light since I am in the middle of a BHG job and I'll be replacing the timing belt while I'm in there.

Will the Equus 3551 work with my 86.5 N/A supra?

"Designed for vehicles equipped with distributorless ignition, conventional, electronic, and computer controlled systems"
Does conventional == distributor ignition system?

or would I be better off getting the Actron CP7527?

I don't know whether he should get but Adrian, he asked two questions. I don't think yes is clear. He wants to know Equus or Actron.

They will both do the same thing, first one has a few more fancy features for newer cars.
