Timing belt

Not having much luck searching threads... I have heard Toyota has engineered some of their engines so that a broken timing belt would not result in bent valves. Does anyone know if this is true of the 7M-GTE?

Yes. It's a non interference engine.

Only way you'd be bending valves on the pistons is if you had REALLY big cams.

Thanks for the answer...plan to get it replaced soon, but didn't want to take any chances in the meantime!
