I never said set "new" to min. I said new set to middle of spec. Then you say it would cause a valve to hang open or have 0 lash. The only way your story would be true is if .008" went away. We both know that can't happen. Maybe you just missed my last sentance on post 14 . Sorry.

Even re-shimming valves, why would you set at minimum clearance? You significantly shorten your re-shimming interval and eliminate the margin of safety that a larger clearance gives you.

Recently had two of my flywheel bolts shear off at the head and started rolling around between the flywheel and clutch... DEFINITELY audible inside the car. Good luck on your diagnosis!

Never said ANYTHING about the Valve sinking 8 thou... and people wonder why I don't bother helping here as much as I used to...

AGAIN if you set the lash to MINIMUM on a new valve job then when the engine is at OPERATING TEMP you run the risk of hanging the valve off the seat and torching it...

The stock SPEC is set around the amount that the Valvetrain expands when hot to ensure the above doesn't happen....

Seriously it's not Rocket Surgery... :nono:
No it's not at all but trying to adjust them with a hot engine sure can feel like Rocket "surgery"
