So guys car had been running flawlessly for around 8 or 9 months until..... I started noticing a slight ticking noise. It only is noticeable when the throttle is held at around 3000rpm in around the 20% position (in either neutral or in gear) , when you change gears and the throttle is at around the 20% position as you are about to push the clutch in.

I feel more like it is something to do with when the throttle is at a certain position (as i said ''20% position''). its like some sort of vibrating or ticking but quite loud .

I will try and get a video tomorrow of the problem but that is as best as i can describe it.

Thanks in advance.

I had a really loud ticking noise on my 7MGTE that variated with engine rpm it got even louder after i went to my first dift comp.

I thought it was the valves but when i pulled the covers they were still in spec.

Check your valves clearances and your entire valve train for loose parts.

check for exhaust leaks including egr

Turns out the previous owner hadnt tightened down the EGR valve that comes of the head there was only one bolt left in it and an extremely loud tick.

I dont know if this is your problem but It definately caught me off guard

good luck
