i am curious if there are any intake/exhaust systems that are drastically better than others..most of the intake systems i have found all seem to pretty much be the same..

it is to my understanding however, that because of the setup of our engines<i have 7m> that they benefit greatly from intake and exhaust:sarcasm: mods...so..if anyone can point me in the direction of some really good stuff.. i would be much obliged.

thanks!

If you're talking about the intake into the turbo, I've always heard that Apexi was the best you could buy. If you're talking about intake manifolds then I can't help you. Try to find a Ron Ramirez FFIM, but good luck with that. As far as exhaust, I have a custom exhaust, but I've heard good things about the HKS cat back exhaust. I have a 3" exhaust, but I wish it was 3.5" or 4". Good luck.

I was told yesterday by a certain supra owner that it was the best upgrade he had ever bought for his supra...............:dunno:

I've also heard not to buy the HKS intake filter though, and I know I read that the Apexi was one of the best you could get.

Edit: You said downpipe, I thought you were talking about the cat back exhaust.

I have read (and also use) that the Apex-i flows best w/ the best filtration.

- inverted funnel in the end to direct incoming air towards the afm
- dry filter element (no nasty oil to get sucked through on your afm)

exhaust - I have used a Kakimoto, a custom 3" crushed bent and I now have a stainless Tanabe.

- crushed bent custom was a little loud and needless to say "crushed bends" weren't ideal for flow

- Kakimoto was nice, but a little loud (depending on your taste) and was mandrel bent. Best for flow.

- My Tanabe is quiet (nice low tone) until you get into the throttle. Mandrel bends and stainless pipe. I love it! I run it w/ a 3" elbow, 3" Tanabe down pipe, 3" test pipe. I have been told it has a nice tone like a v8 (not the Honda bumble bee sound!!!)

I also see you're in CA. Carefull what you choose, due to youe emmisions requirements.

As far as exhaust mods go, get an aftermarket downpipe. http://www.bicperformance.com/ sells a decent one at a decent price. Get it recirculated, it's quieter.

After that, there are a lot of exhaust choices. Personally, I would stay away from APEXi N1, and the Blits NUR. They're pretty damn loud. I've had positive experience with the APEXi Worldsport, and Worldsport II

Old Worldsport (which I thought was a Blitz Realize TT, but now I think it's a WS)

Intake filters are all pretty much the same...Just buy the Driftmotion intake for $10... www.driftmotion.com

And for exhaust...it's really up to you, but I have heard that the HKS downpipe sucks and is really restrictive for some reason.

i am pretty sure the hks downpipe starts 3 inch and then has a 2.5" flex section and then goes back to 3", i almost bought one before i found this out, kinda dumb imo to buy a 3" dp with a 2.5" bottle neck in it....:nono:
