Remebered as a Hero...For what? Dieing?

The real heroes are the ones that went out there and actually saved his family and pulled his frozen body off of the ground.

article said:
"James Kim had set out to look for help in light clothes and tennis shoes...
...Wilderness survival experts strongly recommend staying in one place when lost."

"We were having difficulty in there... He traveled a long distance"
"Kim's body was spotted by a helicopter pilot Wednesday and found in the Big Windy Creek ravine just minutes after noon, less than a mile from the family car and about a half-mile from the Rogue River."

If I sound like an ass whatever, but the way I see it this guy failed and payed the ultimate price for doing so. That doesnt make him a hero.

I figured that this was going to happen to him. I agree with Dead that he made a bad mistake for leaving the shelter he did have. Still sad to hear about though.

If he would have just stayed on the damn road instead of going DOWN towards the stream where it is actually colder & more moist then he probably would still be alive to day. And why the hell did he take some of his clothes off in those kinda temps? It's too bad that he died trying to save his family though:(

My question is, if they were coming from California and they were on their way to Gold Beach, why the hell did they go off the main highway that connects Grants Pass or wherever to the Coast? It appears they were on some old Forest Service road or something? And they were driving an 05 or 06 WRX too.. Must have been in some awfully deep snow to get stuck in one of those...

They say he is a hero, because he left to try and save his family.
Like I said, he shouldnt have tried to run off and be a hero.

Yes, it's sad.

I give the man an A for effort, but an F for not having a clue about the way the world works. If your suburban/urban existence is the only way you can survive, you really need to wake up.

This is just another example of how we have circumvented natural selection and have bred people who, if they were alive 200 years ago, would have been too stupid to avoid being eaten on the way to the outhouse...
