lets get creative here, ive been thinking of different ways of cooling air and fuel/turbo/starters ect.. in a car effectively and this is all i can think of

peltier - this has been brought up in the past on supramania, it is fairly effective but from my understanding it is very power comsuming and reading around people are using this technology "TEC" for overclocking CPU's on PC's and people have reached temp's of -50C, that would be a very decent temperature for say cooling intercooler pipes and any intake pipes, but this could be an issue for say fuel, due to the fact that fuel freezes at -50c to -60c, taking a further look into this the finding that price wise its very good. 10$ for a peltier unit on ebay. and lots of companys supply peltier units. kryotherm.ru has lots of information on this and looking around if i understand it right this is about the best i could find there - kryotherm unit

Phase-change cooling - this is the same idea as the A/C system in a car, using a compressor condensor blah blah blah to cool heat vapors to freeze things, compressor compresses a gas (or mixture of gases) which condenses it into a liquid. Then, the liquid is pumped up to the vehicle part trying to be cooled, where it passes through an expansion device, this can be from a simple capillary tube to a more elaborate thermal expansion valve. The liquid evaporates (changing phase), absorbing the heat from the intercooler pipe or air flow temperature as it draws extra energy from its environment to accommodate this change (see latent heat). The evaporation can produce temperatures reaching around −15 to -150 degrees Celsius again causing a problem then for fuel. The gas flows down to the compressor and the cycle begins over again. This way, the vehicles part can be cooled to temperatures ranging from −15 to −150 degrees Celsius, this then depends on the refrigeration system and the gas mixture used.

Liquid nitrogen- just not a very good long term idea but anything is possible, the amount it would cost to have to reuse and refill would be ridiculous

out of all of the systems here, phase cooling seems the easiest due to the fact that a car already comes with this system, and since alot of us like to remove it due to its performance theft abilitys we could probably use it to actually cool and return and add performance. it would be cost effective in a way since you already have the equipment on the vehicle but like all you or someone would have to make a custom mounting plates "cooling plates" for the system. i personally would try this system to see what kind of increases a car would get out of doing this.
but then again for the size and price of peltier units and the being that -50c would really be all you need i'd say overall this is the best unit in its own way.

the cheapest way i can think of cooling somthing would be a bag of ice and some duct tape :naughty: catch my drift, post your ideas, maybe some designs

i guess where i was trying to get on this is something as user friendly, and doesnt require much maintenance, kind of the same idea of how we have water/meth injection systems, or IC cooler sprays "nitrous/Cry02"
