Don't know how I feel about that. Looks like it will be hard to hold onto. maybe just the pics don't show well. The cut side is a mild set up. A more aggresive plate you would just cut the grooves at a 30 degree angle in one direction only. About a .250 gap with a .750 flat

I lapped the block today with diamond paste. Had no problems holding it. I just layed my hands on it and moved the plate in a figure "8" motion.

It was really easy. I wish I had done this before.

It took me 2 hours to get 85% done. Only 3 areas around the water jackets in the block on the intake side has to be done. These areas are below the rest of the surface so I will have to do more lapping tommorrow.
But you know in these areas the HKS head gasket has cutouts for the water jackets locations on the block. Of course on the block there is not water jackets in these areas. So these areas are not sealing areas.

If your block is machined you could do this in 30 mins. "1J" did his in 40 mins.

Cheers,
Roy

Ugh, it's IJ not 'one'J...

Thanks for the feedback, I'm definitely going to have to pick one of those up. How are you going about making sure the paste doesn't get into the oil or water ports? How are you keeping it out of the cylinders?
