Prices are for new parts @ MSRP. I spent about $400 for machine work on my head (5 angle valve job with back cut and installation of new valve guides added considerable cost), and ~ $600 for porting (8 hours of the shop's time plus some misc supplies). I had already put a good 40 hours of my own time into the porting and I did my own polishing. They certainly aren't giving it away, but its not a rip-off

I noticed that head from TMS more than 1 month ago. It was described then as shimless, they were fitting lightweight buckets to adjust valve lash. From my point of view this was good deal, now they changed description but price is the same
Powerhouse Racing mk3 head was something like $4500 AFAIR, now they removed it from their site. Some people are close to $2K only for machine work on their heads, so it is nothing unusual about $4000 price
