Don't know about that coolant...if you're seeing a line of residue where the coolant level normally sits cold in the overflow bottle, the Water Wetter is suspect. Pull the bottle cap and feel the tube that sits in the coolant. If you get a residue on your fingers and it feels "slimy", I'd do a flush and change coolant. Same for the rubber seal on the rad cap.

Consider Zyrex G05 (HOAT) or Toyota Red (phosphate) coolant...both have superior chemistry vs the conventional "Green" stuff.
Avoid DexCool (OAT) coolant like the plague.

yeah, i've been thinking bout the toyota red. does it come pre diluted? or is it just concentrated? and i dont recall having any residue in the reservoir. then again the car had only been driven with the 50/50/water wetter mix for like 2 or 3 months.

You know, I think it does...seems I saw it at the dealer last time I was there. When I used it previously, I always bought the 100% stuff and mixed my own (distilled water).

Hi. Can you by chance use a whatever dialect you typed to English translator to ask the question in a language (English and some of us understand Spanish) we can understand?

I tried to run it through my drunk to English translator but only gibberish came out.

Removing the jiggle valve allows a small flow at all times. It helps prevent a pressure build-up behind the stat that can hold it closed and helps to rid the system of air faster.

That fitting on the bottom of the water neck attaches to the hardline that surrounds the block. There is a small 90 deg hose that's between the two fittings...it's common for this hose to fail. If it does, you will lose ALL your coolant in a very short time.

Yes that hose is a pain to replace. Also make sure the heat shield for that small hose is in place or else the heat from the exhaust manifold will destroy it.

Lots of good info on this thread, I think I even learned a few things.

There's a rubber "donut" gasket that fits around the thermostat itself. Get a new one.

Question: I bought an 190*F thermostat for my car but the water (yes its only water at the mo coz its a fresh rebuild) boiled over so I replaced it with a 175*F one and now it's fine - the needle stays at ~3-4 marks below halfway and all is good.

I'm about to drain the water out and put some toyota red coolant in on the weekend - will my temps go down with that stuff? Because if they will I'll get the 190*F thermostat, but otherwise my temps seem fine according to the temp gauge...

It could be the 190 stat you used was bad...that's why I test a stat (even a new one) before I install it. A 175 stat is a bit low...I'd use a 185 or 190 stat. The addition of coolant is not going to drop temps, but will increase the boil point.
