Toyota OEM one. I never had issues with that stock one until well into the 150K+ miles range. I tried a NAPA/Checkers etc t-stat and it did died quite quickly. OEM. No problems!

get the 180 degree.. if you have the time to wait have them order the 160 degree, thats even better.

If this wasn't so wrong, it would be funny ;)

The 190 stat is what you want like the previous guys said. OEM or a Stant SuperStat...make sure you get a new rubber gasket for it. Cut the jiggle valve off and put the hole that remains at 12 O'clock when you install it.

Personally, I'm not convinced it's the stat.

Neither am I, but I get sick of asking the same things over and over :D

On a side note, make sure the surfaces inside the housing where the rubber o-ring sit are clean. No sealant is needed if it's in good shape. Also, don't overtighten the bolts!

If i remember correctly, it will allow a little but of coolant flow even when the thermostat is closed.

(Dont kill me if im wrong)

^^^ LOL...you got it right ;)

Air bleeds out of the system faster and it prevents a pressure built-up behind the stat that can keep it from opening at the spec temperature.

LOl wow sorry it took me so long to post back with college and all i dont have time to scratch my a**! :aigo:
[[[The Coolant Never boiled i Never Lost any Coolant and the oil is NORMAL]]]]]:icon_razz

Anyways i went to the junk yard and got the same Gauge sensor wire if im not mistake it's yellow i extended tha wire to the sensor . NOw i know i have a Good Wire! so i ruled out the wireing!
1.New Rad.
2. New CAp:biglaugh:
3.New Hoses.
4.New Gauge Sensor[wire]
5.New Overflow Bottle[sensor] working

The problem was the needle will always read 3/4 Hot and never move from there BUt my car felt Fine and Strong. i drove the car like this for 4 days Highway and some city
After i install a new wire for the sensor it didn't change anything...so i looked at the thermostat and it was rusted alil
so i changed it but i dindn't take that little jiggly thing off i put the gasket on as well and Gasket maker around the housing cuz it was still leaking alil
PRoblem Solved the gague reads alil under normal Temp. [pictures on the way]
[[[p.s should i get an aftermarket temp Gauge ???? that actually reads Numbers?]]]]

THANk YOU Fellow Supra OWners FOr the Well NEEDED HELP!

good deal.. i was always told 160-180*t-stat is what you want? isn't it better to keep your engine cooler?

Think about that for a minute.

What makes the engine work. (Heat)

What happens when a cool metal is made to absorb heat. (Absorbs MORE heat = taking away heat from doing work).

If the parts could tolerate it, the ideal things would be to run the engine as HOT as it could take without braking. Meaning stupid high compression. No coolant to keep heat inside the cylinder. Some exotic material to reduce heat transfer between the combustion process and the cylinder wall, pistons, combustion chambers, valves etc.
