for a Head gasket problem youll need more then a mm rail of sockets...

The gasket is an o-ring, and requires no sealant. Also, DO NOT overtighten the bolts, they WILL snap. Torque spec is only 69 in/lbs (not foot/lbs!)

Lol dont talk about snapped bolts. I snapped a whole lot already i am way more carefull now taking them out is a pain. Anyways if you decide to do it yourself heres me trying to help .i do not know how much a shop charges for a HG job because i never got it done at a shop, but they basically charge you for labor.

All you need is Socket Wrench
10mm, 12mm, 14mm sockets
6"-8" Extension
10mm Allen wrench socket
Torque Wrench
Phillips Screwdriver
And the head gasket
You can use a fel pro one from autozone

If you go pretty fast but you can finish in 2 hours . I did it on the street because i too live in a apartment
The trick is to take off the whole intake manifold from where it bolts on the head to the AFM this saves alot of time. And one thing make sure you DO NOT pull the knock sensor wire out of the plug this happens quite often. When you get it machined you should have the valves checked aswell.

Actually, I like that they stretch/break easily (the bolts that is, not the threads). Just did some work on the miata and they have much larger fasteners, and I was tightening to the torque spec...and instead of the bolt giving, the water pipe outlet broke. On the supra, the bolt would have broke first :)

as i said, my roots are in chevy sb, i haven't had much time to look into it on the 7m, i know the basics still apply as to setting the #1 Piston to TDC and matching the 2 timing marks on the timing gears to the marks on the ones on the timing cover, however i dont have the cover with the marks and i haven't had any shop time to really look over the engine
