I have heard and read so many different ways of modifying turbo'ed MKIII Supras and all of them make my mind reel with excitement. But my question is what modifacations can U make to an N/A supra and if U choose to go add a turbo to your N/A what are the pro's and con's to doing so. I have had a 89N/A for a year now and I am have a small amount of vehicle know-how, but what I do know most about is supras.

modifying a 7MGE is next to useless if you are looking for more power. Doing it for the fun of doing and for pride of ownership is fine though. Going NA-T is probably pretty close to equally as difficult and costly as going a full GTE swap.

Dont get sucked in by the lure of the spool! It only leads to the darkside! :biglaugh:

(darkside = empty wallet, more downtime, tickets, broken homes, 'roid rage, flacidity and shrunken testicles)

(ok I might have exagerated a little...)

I am only looking for a slight boost in power but am mainly looking for ways to gain more MPG while not loosing what power I do have. But I am an enthusiast of good looking supras of all kind which is why I plan on taking my supra back to stock and chroming out a few parts here and there, maybe some rims and a spoiler but only the one that was originaly produced with the model year supra that I have. I have modded the car already a little bit, such as a stage 2 clutch, new alternator, drilled and slotted brakes, rear main seal(which coincidentally went bad and messed my stock clutch up about 9 months ago), and new slave and master cylinders. All seals such as intake, intake manifold, exaust, exaust manifold, and valve cover were replaced when I replaced my head gasket with all Velpro gaskets. I'll check that out thanks, I was wondering if someone else had alreadys asked what I wanted to know.

Yes, only one hundred ninety seven, eight hundred and sixty two times!

Go to the N/A section and read the collection of the same answers all those other people got... sheesh. I even gave you a link. The stickies are right at the top, you just gotta read them.

Here you go: (this is as good as it gets without me adding your name and a personalized greeting to the top of each... if needed we can see about it)

There you go, the newcomer's guide to N/A upgrades, maintenance, mileage and just plain looking cool (while fixing yet another broken thing at 3AM).

only way to improve your MPG is to get a different car, the absolut max you will ever get out of a supra is 30mpg and that is driving like an old woman and then what would be the point of having the car??

You've bought the wrong car if you give two shits about gas mileage.

You want power? Best thing to do is to sell your Supra and buy a turbo model. you wont have to worry about swaps, wiring, reliability, and figuring out where things go. and it seems to be more money to swap, than to sell and save for a factory turbo model anyway.

as far as gas milage goes, i got a Geo Metro 5 speed 3 cylinders that I want to get rid of :naughty:

I get 28 US mpg on the highway so have NFI what you guys are complaining about, the Supra can get good mileage.

IJ thats good for a Supra but not good if your wanting to save money on gas, my last daily driver (before I got rear ended) did 50 mpg no matter how I drove but the down side was it only had 72hp.

You also live in the UK, we don't have a wide variety of cars that can do that over here yet.

IJ is making what, like 250rw right now? My car (when it runs ) makes 350rw and I got 22MPG mixed, lots of boosting. Similar mileage to IJ on highway. For comparison, my buddies (5.7l) Z28 (slower than my Supra) only gets ~15, it's in perfect running order and he drives like a grandmother. Honestly, it's pretty much impossible to beat a tuned turbo car in power vs gas mileage.
