ok, i have this wager going on with a friend that has a mint 91 T

he claims that ;;;; the 3 piece wing, is only available on the 90 or so plus ""((TURBO'S ))"" an that the wing that is on the older cars like the 88's for example that have the one piece wing that bends down at the ends towards the rear fenders/ quarters are only the non turbos..... ..

I told him that that wing was for the 88's an 87 's an had nothing to do with if its a turbo or non .....

you guys know what i;n talking about....?
even if i'm wrong, its cool, so help me or him out on this dispute

im not even sure what your bet is but i think you are going to lose.

3 peice wings became available in the 89 model year. it was standard on the turbo models. it was available on NA models as part of a sports package (tems, wing, lsd) both single peice and 3 peice wings.

pre 89 had one-piece wing
89+ had three-piece.
i dont think they were NA/turbo specific, since I have seen NAs with one- and three- piece wings, but i think all turbos had wings.

N/A's never came with an option for a spoiler from the factory. If you see an N/A with a spoiler it was either dealer installed or installed by the owner of the car. A spoiler was not a part of the sports package.

just that,
my friend says that the 3 piece wing was only for turbos , whether or not its a pre or post 89 ( 89+ ) or ( 88 an older)

I say that it had nothing to do with if its a turbo or not. I thought that the one piece wings that bent down at the rear quarter panels were the standard wing on 88's an older , an that one of the changes for 89 an newer was the 3 piece wing..
I'm just asking mainly for US cars...
its cool if i loose, , cos I'm not sure myself an would like to know..

Combine those 2 and we have a correct answer.

As far as I know...

87-88 Turbos came standard with 1 piece wing.
89+ Turbos came standard with 3-piece wing.

Wings on NA's were put there by the dealer, or owner.

Sports package doesn't include a wing, only headlight squirters, LSD, and TEMS.(ABS?)
