There is quite a big differance in price to justify a 2j over 1.5......

Not there isn't. Figure 3k for your 1jz swap, then 1000-1500 for your 3.0 bottom end (either ge w/ thick headgasket, or gte), or just spend the 4000-4500 on the 2jz from the get go..

I like the 1.5 for drift purposes. The throttle response is better than 1j and tq curve is broader. Spools instantly. Sure it falls off a little up top but by that rpm I have plenty of wheelspin. It loses about 60 ft lb from 6000-8000 rpm but doesn't affect the driving. If anything it's more controllable because modulation up top doesn't unsettle the car like in the midrange. That and with 1j head you can rev to the moon which is nice. Driving with 4.30 gears is no prob. And it sounds cooler with open wastegate.

For a drag or highway car I'd go 2j fo sho. Lots of top end power with lower gears. I've never driven one with stock twins though. How is that?

where are u getting these off the wall figures.

1j- $800 http://www.nagasakijdmmotors.com/catalog/1jzgte-complete-swap-turbo-p-165.html
2jge~$600 whole motor not just block. prolly get it minus head for bout $300-400
2jt-$1900 http://www.nagasakijdmmotors.com/catalog/2jzgte-complete-swap-p-166.html

Not gonna count all the other crap like tranny and intercooler and such since it will be the same regardless what u put in. On top of it wiring will be lot easier any 1j route since all u need to do is lenghten. then its pnp.

Have fun doing that. I've done several swaps and know the cost.

i found my 2jz from a guy doing a soarer swap to his sc300, i got the motor for $500 and sold the head, exhaust, intake, and oil pans for $850, so i got a block for free and made money.... the only reason i did 1.5j was because 1jz already has MAP, and i already have everything wired in....

if i was to be doing the swap from scratch, and not doing a 1/2 cut.... just getting eng trans and wiring.... id do a 2jz without a doubt.....
