The Supra Got Hit :(

So the story goes.. on my way back from avondale/phoenix area after picking up this 92 parts supra, im getting ready to pull out from a checker auto go across traffic and merge into the yellow lane to pull forward into the left hand turn lane, well ive already made my turn and im sitting in the yellow center lane, when all of a sudden some idiot comes up passed me as im pulling forward into the turn lane and side swipes my passenger side like he was trying to cut me off or being impatient!

He hit my passenger side front bumper corner area and knocked the hood and head light out of whack (cant close the lights now), took the paint off the bumper and pushed a part of the front fender in, wheel alignment and all the major body pieces didnt get damaged luckily, but i did later find out i have the beginning of rod knock :sadwave:

It was some asian guy that didnt speak english that continued to be convinced that it was my fault. Police showed up and we exchanged information, i did not have my new insurance card w/ my new policy # or new address so i got tagged with a fine for that, which is simple all i have to do is show proof that i had insurance at that time and they will revoke the charge. The other driver was charged with failure to change lanes properly or whatever that charge is..

My back hurts a bit and ive been thinking about going to the chiropractor . The funniest and most ironic thing out of this entire night was that the parts car me and a buddy picked up is a 1992 Black Turbo Targa that got in a rear end collision, so its front is salvageable! Its going to be great to get a new paint job on the front half of the car :)

But all in all the damage done to his car was far worse, his rear bumper cracked from top to bottom in 3 places, his drivers tail light was chipped and cracked and his paint was scuffed all along his rear fender. God i love supras, their fucking tanks!

I now have a fond disliking for foreign asian's and old people..

cliffs:
Supra got hit from some guy cutting me off, was on the way back from getting a 92 black parts car buddy was driving parts car, i was in my car. Officer gave other driver a citation, other driver didnt speak english(drove an accord). Damage to supra minimal, damage to new honda accord somewhat major.

moral of the story, id rather be in a tank then a tin can ;)

yeah your damage is way worse then mine, literally all that happend is the corner of my bumper's paint came off and my fender got a nice little dent in it, my hood got tweaked and the headlight wont close..

Did the other driver that was at fault at least have insurance?!

How the heck did the other driver have a license if he couldn't speak english? Are the road signs in AZ in other languages too?

On a side note he could have been prentending to not know english, I used to work with some amigos at a golf course and they could speak english but if you told them to do a job they did not want to do they would be like "no habla..."

you'd be surprised at how many non-speaking people down here have their license. none of our traffic signs are in spanish, although I'm sure they will be soon :icon_conf

sucks about the accident, but looks like you'll be able to get everything fixed fine. people really suck anymore...I'm waiting for it to happen to me

yah,
the guy had to have his brother come and translate stuff for the cops lol. It was funny watching this poor 24 year old kid attempt to explain how the accident happened. The female cop(kinda cute) was getting irritated lol.

Poor asian guy was so irritated reminded me of jet li, kinda that silent pissed off god i want to bust some kungfu thing.. i wish i had a camera so i could snap pics of the accident scene, im thinking about getting a disposable camera to keep in the car just in case.

damn, that sucks!! and a 92 too :nono: ... I know just how you feel... My first supra (also my first car) was rear-ended the first time I actually took it out on the street, and yes, they guy that hit me was ASIAN, he hit me going like 40, and I was sandwiched in between him and the car in front of me! Ins. deemed the car totaled :3d_frown:

And then, get this, 3days later, (after going through all of this without insurance) an asian lady hits the front of my car as I'm coming out of my alley to go to school. She slid across the front of the Supra, and literally the whole pass side of her Acura TL was crumpled in like a piece of tissue paper... This is was did my car in, caused frame damage and everything  ... Luckily, she felt so bad about it, (remember, I dont have ins.) that she just told the ins it was a hit and run...I just had to pay her deductible...

So, I had to drive around in a totaled supra w/out working headlights for over a year...

The first pic is after i was rear-ended, the second is 3 days later...

Just a few thoughts after reading this thread...........

1. Your front bumper has a narly dent, and his rear bumper is all tore up. Who hit Who????????????

2. Pretty narly dent on that front bumper to not have broken the corner light

3. Remember these same Asians you fondly dislike, are the same Asians that built the Supra that you fondly Love. And they sport some beautiful women.

Not tryin to be a hater, just a few thing I noticed

Ill try my hardest to not sound like a dick because thats not what these responses are intended for, but what was your point by these observations?

1. A supra weighs 3400 curb weight about correct? an 04' honda accord is all plastic and curb weight for the accord(4dr) is 3059. Being an approx 400 lbs lighter and the supra being stationary, i would assume that is what caused such little damage to my supra.

Its like running into a brick wall or a cement pole at 20mph, the pole isnt moving but the car is. His bumper was cracked in 2-3 places and his drivers side rear quarter panel was pushed in a bit as well as the usual scuff marks and paint chips. You gotta understand newer cars are made to crumple alot more then a supra.

2. our bumpers have foam in it to pad and absorb the damage caused by an impact. Not sure if supras have it but older model z's even have schocks mounted to the back of the bumper to help recoil and dampen the blow even more. I guess you could say i was lucky :)

3. Not to take a stab at the ethnic group asians in direct, i was hoping to direct that at the "ethnic group" of asians that immigrate to america, get a license talk on their cellphone and proceed to cut people off or drive carelessly as well as not speak any hint of english further causing more issues and hold ups when trying to get each others information. Ive got nothing against asians personally, its kind of like grouping ALL old people as bad drivers everyone is a bad driver to some extent i agree :biglaugh: but what pisses me (and im sure alot of other drivers) off the most is immigrants specifically that come to america and dont learn english and proceed to get frustrated because we dont understand them.

But this response is getting a bit off topic. So heres a slight update to the issuse at hand.

I called both of the insurance companies (mine, and theirs) and opened up claims. I should have an adjuster from each agency contacting me within 24 hours and they will setup an appointment to review the car and take more details of the incident down. As far as repairs go, how dows the insurance system usually work out IE: the process etc, do i have to take it to a shop they recommend or can i take it to any shop i would like? Will they just cut me a check for the estimated cost of repairs according to the adjuster?
