Hello All
Well my name is David and this will be my first rebuild with a supra. It will be very interesting and "Fun". Some history of my car...I own a 91 7mgte Supra. I bought it back in october 0f 09. The man I purchased it from, had every receipt since the car was bought, all service records, EVERYTHING. So that was a plus for me, and he had "rebuilt" the engine, another plus. So a month down the road I get all the BHG symptoms, and what do you know...BHG. Turns out he didnt do all the work as thorough as he could. So I started saving and saving until now. And this is where I am today about to build my car to hopefully be capable of holding 600rwhp.

I have already chose so dont tell me to pick: FAST AND RELIABLE, not cheap and broke

My parts list...so far:
Oil pump - Driftmotion
7M Oil Pump Hose -8 AN - Driftmotion
Oil squiters - Toyota Dealer
ARP Main, Rod, and Head bolts - Driftmotion
3rd Valve cover (spark plug) - Suprasport
Bov and Pipe - Member
Oil squirter Banjo Bolts - Driftmotion
Gasket Set - Eristik Gaskets
GMB Waterpump - Driftmotion
Transmission mount - Toyota Dealer
Cams - Titan Motorsports
Main/Rod Bearings - Titan Motorsports
Clutch Kit - ?
Intercooler Kit - ?
Turbo Rebuild - DM or Mikes Turbo

to be added on to......

Pics to quench the thirst...for now.

Im not purchasing to many internals until I know what Size I need to buy, or if I need to buy certain parts at all.

If there are parts that you may want to recommend (only with personal expeirence) then please recommend them. Or parts maybe that I may look over.

But for now my build is commencing. Hope you enjoy, and please do comment.

Thanks.

Well for internals, you can get a set of NPR pistons that come with rings and pins from DriftMotion for $120.00 plus shipping, if you plan on keeping stock internals. The gasket set you have is a good one, I used the same. Don't use the oil pan gasket, it seals with silicone and make sure you used a good amount of it.

Goodluck. i recommend getting a few washers and shimming your oil pump.
are you going with a metal head gasket? its probably a good idea.
and also if you goal is 600+ i think its a good time to start thinking about forged internals or atleast pistons. probe pistons are cheap and could be found on driftmotion
also are you thinkiing about other supporting mods? like malbro 255, afpr, some kind of piggy back like safc although with 600hp you should go with maft pro or stand alone$$$$

Internals are going to be forged. Ive been talking with IJ about the internals for my car. When I get the car out of the machine shop and broke in, I will either purchase a standalone or maft pro. As for the walbro, I will be purchasing that in the next couple weeks. Yes, Ill be going with a metal headgasket.

Ive heard shimming the pump can cause it to lose life. As in it will almost cut its life span in half...but thats just what Ive heard.

IBoughtASupra: The oil pan gasket is no good from the kit? Or can it be used WITH gasket maker?

Supporting mods will be coming after the break in. (Besides the internals obviously)

You are probably going to be limiting yourself with just one Walbro if you realistically want 600whp. Beech Performance sells a Dual Walbro hanger which is what I would do if I was you.

Im not going for 600 straight out the gate. Itll be kind of like a monthly process. Ill add as I go. But Ill probably do dual walbros, in tank and another pump inline.

No, do not use the oil pan gasket. Use Permatex silicone and use a lot of it. Be very generous....imagine you are about to have see all the Vagina in the world and have a chance to get every one of them, do you only want to bring on condom? Use a lot of silicone or you will regret it. If you don't you will be pulling the engine again to reseal it or dropping the front subframe to drop the oil pan and reseal it there.

No problem. Another tip, you should use silicone on a lot the gaskets. Intake, upper and lower, front timing cover, rear seal(on the housing), waterpump and throttle body. I have never used a throttle body gasket from any kit because all of them don't have the right size for the butterfly. Everytime the butterfly opens, it touches the gasket. I am not a fan of cutting the gasket so I use spread a good amount over the throttle body and them frimly place it on the manifold and then tighten it down in a criss-cross pattern. Then open the butterfly all the way, and wipe off any excess that is shown on the inside of the throttle body.

IJ, any thoughts on that/

stock toyota gasket thats metal and made for the tb works wonders.

you also do not need to use gobs of fipg on the oil pan. all you need is a nice bead that is continuous and keep it going and go on the inside of the holes. the bead soze only needs t6o be around 4-5mm as when you bolt it down and the excess rtv is just going to squish on the inside and out side. if you have ever looked at a factory seal the excess barely comes out at all. fipg or 3 bond works the best.

toyota never put silicone on the intake gaskets or any of that except in a few places like the front cam caps for the valve cover seal and the rear timing cover. it is not necessary if the surface is clean, straight, and you have decent gaskets.

Only time I'll use silicone is when there's no gasket required, if there's a gasket I use Permatex #4 or #5, as Hvy suggested 3Bond 1207b is my RTV of choice, it's a little exe but is a brilliant product.

I just read up on the 3 bond 1207b stuff. Seems like it really great quality of sealant. Does any one know where to buy it?? Ive called a few places and no one has seem to have heard of it.

I just like to use a bead of silicon on the intake side for piece of mind. I use a light grade of emry cloth to polish the surface after I clean it with our parts washer. I am not loading the oil pan with silicone but I am not being greedy either. I once put a bead and well, it leaked and I had to pull the engine again to reseal it.

You can get the branded version from Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Bombardier and so on it's sold as ie: "HondaBond" ect, normal 1207b is available at most big parts stores.

So today, I found out I will be coming into a nice sum of money when I graduate from high school in May. So Ill be holding off on the build until then, so I can buy the pistons that I have been wanting, and the turbo. =]

So for now the build is on hold. Just for 7 weeks though. Not too long.
