Well ladies and gents, its that time again!

CHI2k8 is comming!

CHI2k8 will be August 21-24

Here the plan so far (subject to change)

-Thursday

Cruise in, meet and greet, possibly a small group dinner / after hours shenanigans.

-Friday

Lunch

Group meeting for every one rolling in / to the race track with a group lunch.

Drag racing.

The thought this year is to have it at Rockford Illinois instead of Great Lakes drag way.

We would have the track basically to ourselves, with the exception of we'd like to invite some other car CLUBS to join us such as:
  • Subaru WRX
  • Corvette
  • GT40
  • Porsche
  • Viper
  • EVO
  • Skyline / Silvia / Nismo / Nissan
Our thinking is we could have a very nice friendly competition with these groups.

We wouldn't have to worry about "Joe Bumfu#$#ck Hillbilly" in his V8 lead sled telling us how bad our chopsticks suck.

We wouldn't have to pay the track rental fee just with supras.

-Saturday

Dyno Day

Sound Performance has confirmed that they have a new, HUGE, building. They have not confirmed that they will have their dyno up and running by then, but Im sure they will.

I think its safe to say that every one that has come to Chicago in the past, has enjoyed the staff, sights, sounds and facilities at Sound Performance!

We are crossing our fingers that SP lets us dyno this year at their facility.

Three cheers for dyno'ing again at SP this year!

Lunch

We plan on a light lunch served at SP, most likely sandwiches catered in.

Swap Meet

I know a lot of people have a lot of stuff to get rid of. What better way then to sell it at a supra meet!

Last year was a little hectic with chaos ensuing all around. This year, there will be tables for the swap meet available. This will help with the down time while the dyno is getting setup or you're waiting to dyno.

Go browse the swap meet, and you just might find a new BOV or that turbo you've always wanted. :biglaugh:

I doubt there will be a charge for a table at the swap meet. This is up to SP to decide. Remember, we are all guests in their house during dyno day.

Celebration / Group Dinner

After the swap meet there will be a caravan over to Dave and Busters. Again this is tentative.

I know in years' past, D&B has turned out to be some fun times with people having a blast until 2am, with festivities continuing out in the parking lot.

The plan is to have a buffet style group dinner, just as last year so that the servers only have to worry about drinks.

D&B is a bar. It is 21 and over. DO NOT WORRY THAT YOU ARE UNDER 21. If you are with the supra group, state so to the doorman - no one will question you or your family.

There will be awards (cash, prizes, trophies) for the Dyno challenge and the drag racing (if there is to be a drag competition).

-Sunday

Car show

Elmhurst Toyota is planning on their car show again this year.

Lunch

The Elmhurst Toyota Crew does a wonderful job at BBQ burgers and hot dogs.

Lunch will be available and prizes will be handed out. WEAR SUNSCREEN and make sure your camera works!

-Notes & Changes

After speaking with Nelson, there will possibly be some changes this year to make things run a little smoother.

  • Prepay for the event
Prepaying goes much smoother for every one involved. Prepay (as of now) will NOT include your hotel.
Prepaying pays for the following:
  • Drag Racing Day Lunch
  • Drag Racing Day (Racing or Watching)
  • Dyno Day Lunch
  • Dyno Day Car Dyno
  • Dyno Day Swap meet (if there is a charge for it)
  • Dyno Day Celebration Dinner
  • Car Show
  • Car show food

With prepaying, things go much smoother and we can plan better for parking, food, racing etc.

Also, when you prepay, you most likely will get mailed to you:
  • A Thank you & Welcome Letter to CHI2k8
  • Stickers & or pens from the event's sponsors
  • Directions to Drag Racing, Lunches, Dinner, Dyno, Car show
  • A map of the greater Chicago Area
  • CHI2k8 Schedule with times, locations, events and contact phone numbers
  • Lanyard with a hard card that has a collectible design for CHI2k8. This is your proof of payment into each event. This will save on you having to carry around loads of cash / event organizers having to handle loads of cash. Just show your hard card, let the CHI2k8 staff mark it, and you're good to go.
  • CHI2k8 T shirt for each person paid

The hard cards will look something like this with a lanyard (blue red or black)

http://www.duracard.com/gallery1.htm

http://www.plasticcardfactory.com/

http://www.ipccards.com/products/index.html

http://www.plasticcards.com/123b.html

This also means we need a really kick ass & colorful design for this years CHI2k8 (SO GET YOUR COLORING CAPS ON!) On the back of the card will be a spot for your name that will be hand written in permanent ink when mailed to you.

Car show changes:

The Supras last year finally got their own group away from the Scions. There were some complaints that the supras will still lumped together.

This year, the plan is to have a class for each supra generation. MkI, MkII, MkIII, MkIV.

Again, this is all up in the air, but this is the general direction of where CHI2k8 will be going this year.

We appreciate all your thoughts, comments, complaints and concerns.

Please direct all questions to Nelson. If there is something I need to change in this post, please email me.

Hopefully I can make the weekend portion at least. Hopefully this won't be too late into August since I'll be up north for Summer but head back down south to start a new semester in late August.

I will be there again. The only bad thing that I can only be at the car show on Sunday.

Last year was a blast....blast furnace, god it was hot, my sunburn has just faded.:biglaugh: I have to plan better to make everything.

If someone can only make the car show what then with the badges??

ooo...this ought'a be something to plan for. Sooner I know the dates the better as far as sending in a vacation request. I'll be doing my best to get my mk3 up and running then I hope, the indy meet was awesome but depressing being there without a supra....

WOW! This is the first time I have seen this thread. Ironically I'm wearing my SP shirt right now from last year. I doubt I'm making the 15 hour each way drive again, but this thread has encouraged several flashbacks of the great event. How bout postic pics of me and you flying the Supramania kite at D&B Jon, or Noah and his chair. I have many other fond memories of last years trip. Those of you who miss it should be ashamed!

That was a hella long weekend trip from Alabama. I'm gonna try to experience a Texas before coming back up there again. I will return, but probably not this year. Texas is my logical yearly, but I will make appearances at Chicago with car, and Vegas without car occasionally.
