Maybe they are cosmetically remaking them the better distinguish themselves between the real thing and the knockoff, don't know how long that will last though... I'm not sure if they have changed anything significant on the internal design or not. I don't think HKS has changed they ssqv product description any from the last time I read it, but something small may have changed...

Yea, it's a redesign, primarily to help stop the bullshit counterfeiting.

The new housing will be harder/more expensive to copy.

I assume the gold and purple inserts for the older models will still fit in the new ones... I don't like the higher pitch sound, so I'll be putting in the purple one when I buy the newer design.

only problem.. if it is made in china... counterfiets will come.

They have no qualms about doing that....

on a seperate front but on the same subject. Miller & Kriesel folded. They gave the chinese thier design so they can cut cost. Well the chinese started selling them and now even trademarked M&Ksound for these speakers.

the REAL Miller and Kreisel speakers (or what was once thier speaker)

The real deals have the brand name either stamped on (newer ones) or embedded on (older ones).
how bout performance/ reliability wise? i went to the race tracks in puerto rico and the shops were selling the knockoffs claiming that they are just as good only difference is name. I didnt buy it cause he wanted 165 for it.

Most people aren't having problems with the knockoffs, but sometimes they don't actuate when they are suppost to, so some people take them apart and clean out the burrs on the inside and lube it up. The real ones don't need this treatment of course ;).

If people didn't buy the knock-offs, they wouldn't be made.

I'd find it extremley frustrating if my company had to constantly redesign a product that engineers worked hard to design just so it couldn't be copied.

they are kicking themselves in the ass. the knock off companys are making lots of money off of this. those valves dont cost too much to make. this is the same thing with alot of hks' stuff. they jack the price up way high. well, fuck em'!

thats why hardly anyone uses their standalone ems, cost way high and you cant tune it yourself.

Yea. Just remember that HKS are the ones who foot the bill for research and development. Your friends making cheap knockoffs don't invent. They only copy. Hopefully HKS doesn't say 'fuck em! about you and stop developing products. Because your Chinese knockoff friends won't fill the void.

Fucking cheap ass idiots who have no conception of what it costs to bring a real new product to market. Any dumb fuck can make bad cheap copies of other peoples brilliant designs.

You have any experience with that standaone EMS? I do. We flew Ben Phillips (Obiwan on SF) from Powerhouse Racing in to tune ours. Our customer has a 1998 Quicksilver Supra with 2JZ running dual HKS 2835 turbos making in excess of 700 RWHP. And it passes smog... OBDII smog. Both at the tailpipe AND the plug in test to the ECU. The car passed smog in North Carolina the day after it was tuned. And it has continued to pass, every year for the past 3 years without being "re tuned".

You get what you pay for. And your ignorance is palpable.

ahh someone beat me to it.

My first comment was going to be. Out of all the HKS VPC-Pro how many have had the typical bitch about, i can't get this or that or booohoo this or that? None that I can think off. Why? Because guys like Ben (Obiwan) know it inside and out. No need to be tommy tinker with it ;) Set it and forget it. You know kind of how Toyota did with it stock ecu. ;)
