Along with the new motor I will be using a 1JZ auto trans with a 3000 stall torque converter and a custom valve body done by yours truly! I will also be changing the rear end so my gears are longer as the 4.30 is causing me to have to go into over drive at the drag strip. Hopefully a 3.93 or 3.70 fixes that otherwise Ill have to raise the rev limiter. Picking a turbo was the next part, I wanted something that would still spool quick and still be able to reach the 500WHP mark through and auto trans at mild boost.

Good to see you doing it right. You know how to calculate rpm, speed, gear, and mph? I have a simple formula that makes it really close. I can tell you with the 3.73, 6000 rpm is about 115 mph. You will need to consider this if you want to run 10's. Keep up the good work. And I know you are already thinking about that trap speed with rpm.

A turbo smaller than what most go with, a good driver and a decent auto with an appropriately sized stall.

It doesn't take 700WHP to run a 10 second pass.

Too true. It just makes it easier with the grand weight of the MA70.

Didn't get much done today, apparently it was a holiday and almost everywhere I needed to go was closed. I was able to get the studs out of the manifold where the stock turbo bolts to, two of them pulled the threads out even with heat and WD-40. Drilled and put a time-sert in. Was able to mount the turbo solidly to make up the turbo drain line. After i got that done mounted up the AC compressor and tensioner along with the motor mounts and power steering pump bracket. Im planning on dropping it in tomorrow night. Time to zzz

Today:

Started out the morning by heading to the local pick a part and getting a NA power steering reservoir as the GTE one wont fit any more. Ran a few more errands then worked on replacing the exhaust manifold studs. Bolted the manifold and turbo on for good and hooked up the turbo drain line. Pulled the motor off the stand and put the trans backing plate and flex plate on. Got the motor back on the stand to finish a few more things up, I installed the PS pump and alternator along with the belts. Also got the thermostat housing installed, just need to pick up a few threaded plugs to block off the stock turbo water lines tomorrow. I also put the intake manifold in the parts washer to let it sit over night, so Ill install the intake manifold and egr tomorrow as well. I got all the gaskets and seals for the trans so ill be doing that and bolting it up to the motor and hopefully dropping it in tomorrow night. Then time to start making the intercooler piping, intake and exhaust.

Ok update. Last night I was feeling motivated to stayed there till 5:15 am. Got the oil feed line all made up, with a custom banjo fitting. Came out good. Cleaned up a few parts and bolted them on.

Did a few things to the trans and mated it to the motor then dropped it in. Motor is sitting in the car, trans and mounts bolted up. Time to start the fab work!

Modified Harbor Freight Engine Stand For The Win!

We bought a couple and spent about a half hour welding up all the joints and it's held every engine we put on it.

Haha yeah they work great. We have 7 of them and then one other brand one for big v8's. We have a few with those support braces welded on but all of them we weld washers on instead of the c clip that always pops off holding the wheel on.

Didn't get anything done over the passed two days. Was working on customer cars getting caught up after the move. Not going to push it for IFO, but still planning on going out with my friends 9 sec evo.

Did a bit of prototype work on the Coil on plug setup we will be offering soon. Ill post up soon on this once its done and all the parts are in stock. Started taking measurements and designing in solid works for laser cutting.

Sneak peak!
