ACTUALLY....I have something very similar to this already!

I have a short in my stereo, because I have it kinda hack-installed to test the fit until I can get the wires connected properly (careful twists and electrical tape right now because of a cut harness).

ANYWAY....when I use my headlights while the stereo is on, I can hear a whine that correlates with engine RPM. I'm guessing it's either my alternator or the ignition system, which makes me think the short is in the dimmer circuit and happens when the dashboard is dimmed by my headlight switch. Maybe I'll record it later, its kinda funny...albeit very annoying until i giggle the head unit.

Motorola is the reason we have car radios as before they found a way of shielding the radio from the ignition system, radios just picked up all the noise.

Kinda funny that there name is because of this but they don't do car stereos anymore...
