I just bought a tube of FIPG from Toyota, and I would like to see any tips, tricks, strange uses, facts, EQUAL alternatives, or other information about this stuff. I had one tube before, and I never used it. I let Noah89T use some of it once, but that's it. Now that I needed it, it was hard in the tube. I probably had it two years, and i believe I left it with the applicator on after letting Noah use it.

Where would one get this stuff? Can't find a listing of retailers and I can't remember ever seeing it on shelves locally.

When I worked as a quality engineer in cold-heading (fasteners) one of our secondary processors was THREEBOND. I did our QAV's (Quality Audit Visits) there, and we had product flow through that facility like a river on a daily basis.

Their products are TOP NOTCH. MEC = Micro EnCapsulation technology in their "seal/patch" thread treatments are EXPONENTIALLY superior to many "off-the-shelf" branded products.;)

...somewhere... I have empirical evidence of this.

Most of the Japanese MotorCycle dealers stock it under their own brand ie: Suzibond, YamaBond, HondaBond and so on.

A bud that worked on a top fuel team suggested it many years ago and while it's a bit expensive it's hands down the best RTV I've tried (have used a bunch of brands including Toyota) It's never failed me.

As I mentioned earlier just about all the major motorcycle brands have a version of it, one tube goes a LONG way.

This. Through extensive searching on the internet, I've found the above statement to be 100% true. :)

Is this good (the Threebond stuff) for an oil pan? How much is needed for the pan? One tube is enough?
One tube, as IJ. said, goes a long way. It's more than enough for an oil pan!

can it be used on the drain plug also?
It could be, but why not get a good copper crush washer for it? Or better yet, a Fumoto valve! I've been running on on my pickup for several years, it's a great product, and makes oil changes a ...uhm... twist! LOL. :)

Oversized plug basically 'cuts' new threads.

As others mentioned, 'Right Stuff' by Permatex is my usual 'go-to' - the cheap shit is just that - shit.
