While trolling ebay, I came across these two nuggets. Reminders of the 86.5-1992 first generation Supra.

According to the ad, it was a sales training aid for the newest model from Toyota, the Supra. Named after and inspired by the now defunct Celica Supra.

The audio tape that comes with the car as well as the dealer's brochure also refer to the Supra "dynasty" and seeing these old ads again compells me to admit something I did when I bought the car new but would never do now.

At the time Dodge made a model called the Dynasty so I went to the local Chrysler dealer and bought the badge. It was "Dynasty" written in script. Stick on plastic about an inch high. Was on the rear of my car for years before I finally pulled it off. In fact to this day my friends still refer to my car as "The Dynasty". Pretty goofy huh? ;)

Yes, 86.5 was the first year of the Supra =P

In Japan no car was called a Supra until the A70.

Mk3 is just a name we coined here in America ;) In reality its MK1 and MK2

MK3? What is that? Some kind of a Corolla, VW, or Lincoln? I dont care how many on the interent call it that. The Supra production began in Jan of 1986. But you can call it whatever you want.

If the media had any useful tech on it, I would consider adding it to the cheeseball collection.

They actually came from the factory like that. I have a set. Sawblades with a mirror finish and red highlights.

Actualy the MA45 released in japan in 1978 was a Celica Supra with the XX trim level (eXtra luXury) aka Celica XX (there was also a Corona XX etc..)

the MA47 released only in the USA from ~1980-1981 was the first "Supra" badged car and had all the goodies like an F series diff, 5M-E, digital tuner radio (me want one of these!!!), sports suspension package, front spoiler etc...

By the way MA45/46/47 are about 1100kg wet vs the MA70 1700/1800kg wet, thus my intentions to put a 7m-gte in a ma45 :)
