I'm purchasing a 1990 Supra today or early tomorrow morning. NA, 5spd, targa. All stock, JDM motor with 20K since swap, 271k on chassis. I couldn't be more excited to pick this beast up.

Just thought I'd let you guys know that I will actually be able to contribute more than questions to the community now. YAY!!!

*edit, pics coming soon :)

Holy crap miles! That's got to be some kind of record, or at least close...

You should expect to replace suspension bushings, and don't be surprised when you hear clunks, rattles, and squeaks coming from everywhere inside the car...LOL!

But anyway, that's awesome that you're finally getting a Supra, what is happening to the other "sporty coupe"? :naughty:

No I think he's using the k for thousands of miles Duane.

Congrats on the purchase, but I agree with Johnathan. Squeeks and rattles are probably gonna be quite a project to take on.

haha, yes I meant k representing thousand of miles. Sorry Duane. :)

Ya, the car has some squeaks and rattles, but its certainly much, much more solid and quieter than the accord I've been driving.

And jonathan the old sporty coupe is going to some other 20-something kid. I'm pretty much flat out trading the two. Different people, but at the same time.

The car has had only 2 owners, I'll be number 3 and most the miles were put on the first motor. With the car I'll be getting FULL documentation of everything done to it. He has a folder with at least 100 papers in it.

EVEN THE ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER!!!!

the carfax checks out just fine, just titles, emissions and the swap(performed by toyota techs) :)

Well i figure I'll get my foot in the door first with an N/A. If all goes as planned I'll have another or just swap in a GTE within a few years.

But for now, I'm just happy I can say that MA70 is a part of my car's VIN number. :)

Are you sure you want a car with 271,000 miles that has been abused to shit?

If it has that used engine in it, that means they ruined the first one. Just something to think about.

ok, listen closely, the very very VERY first thing you NEED to do to this car is RETORQUE YOUR SUBFRAME BOLTS!

They're supposed to be done something like every 50K miles, but they're NEVER done and they get VERY loose! The supra is a very solid car, but that seems to be a weak point (well, if people do the schedules maintenance it's not...)

Also, I wouldn't expect ANY engine to survive long past 200K miles, rings are eventually going to wear out and getting a JDM engine is usually cheaper than the rebuild...

New(old) motor installed last fall (JDM) with all paperwork to prove, new headgasket installed at that time. I realize its a ton of miles, but with full service records, a newer motor with approx 50k on it total, I really don't think its a bad place to start.

Only time will tell though...
