Call me an idiot, but can someone confirm or correct me when I assume that the alternator ground wire is one of the three wires (the black one) that contained in the plug in the back of the alternator.....

Very Neanderthal of you as expected. Hey, you asked and seeing how we're pals I wasn't about to pass up a freebie. What's your problem? I mean your electrical problem. I'll be glad to help. That way I'll own you, the way Siegfried owns Roy. Not interested in your other problem, whatever that is...

No thanks, I'd rather push my car to work & back than to have you help me with the problem I'm having. I'll figure it out, it will take some time & I can't boost until it's fixed, but I will be better off in the end.

I'm quite certain that you would never act the part you do in person, that's the basis of my comment. Take it as you wish.

Problem solved. My alt was putting out 19+ volts when I'd get over 4500 rpm. I had checked & rechecked my grounds & had my alt tested two different times, all with good results.

After grounding my my car with 6awg braided cables (very nice stuff), the problem persisted. I took my alt in for a third test, but this time I had the guy put on a larger pulley on the drive side, thus making the alt rpm almost triple.

The alt was in fact the problem, but due to the low test speed, it wasn't detected. Centrifugal force was causing something to separate within the Alt & thus the overcharge....
