It's almost impossible to take molding off a pre 89 without destroying them.

Just a little patience!

I cut the seal at the bottom, and work upwards. Never pull outwards on them, or the bend will not go totally away. Once you get it flipped up a good bit, you can cut through the upper seal. i know that isn't helping now, but maybe it will help someone.

BTW, you parts are looking very good!

Looking really good! But was that uncoated cover on a junkyard motor with no hood?

Kinda ;)

looks like it was on a engine that caught on fire

Nope

it is a junkyard motor, so I wouldn't expect it to be clean at all, it was probably sitting out of the car for awhile to.

Yes and no. Then engine came from a junkyard, that is correct. However, it came from a car that had only been there for a week. I went up there to gather misc. crap for the the 87 and they had just back another 87 turbo off the truck. I told them I want that engine and transmission. A few days later, I went back, they cranked it up for me while it was still in the car, it sounded good and then they pulled it. So it was never on fire, nor was it left out uncovered for any length of time. They just did not age well at all.

Well just a little update to say there's no update, on the car anyway. Three weeks ago I had a tonsillectomy. It's been hell getting over all that. They always say it's worse for adults and that ain't no shit!

Anyway, money is scarce and I'll need at least $2k to get the engine back. It's going to take a while. I have done some interior changes I'll post up eventually. Right now I've been trying to clean the engine bay up some.
I really wanted this thing done and driveable by March for TX2k11 but we'll see.

Well if there's anyone out there that remembers me and is still interested, I'll give another update.

First me: It took forever to get over the tonsillectomy. Damn is all I can say about that.
Decided I didn't want anymore kids with any future girlfriends or ex wives so I had a vasectomy. Any of you thinking about that, PM me and I'll give you details. Super easy. Waiting on a phone call from Dr's office to tell me if my "sample" was a blank or still loaded. :biglaugh:

Now, for the 87 Gay Blue mobile.

I'm still slowly paying on the engine. I've got a long way to go. I put a cloth interior in it but now I'm having second thoughts. I'm thinking of putting the leather back in it and also getting the leather door inserts recovered as they are kinda discolored and look more of a teal than blue. That's the main reason I got the cloth interior. The seats are not in too terrible condition.

I got some Eibach springs for the front, as it has them on the rear already. Need to get some new shocks and mounts for it and get them installed.

I should probably get a new signature. Kinda depresses me everytime I see that one.

I'll try to get some updated pics on later today.

Ladies and Gentlemen I am letting this car go. I really hate to but due to time, money, and recent back surgery, oh and money, I just can't get around to doing what I want to with it. I'll be posting some things in the coming weeks. I'm not parting it out because it's too nice.

But don't fret my peeps, I'm still lurking around and I'll eventually get another 91 or 92. Hell I might go for a MKIV if I don't boost my SC 300.

If you still have the leather interior bits, I might could take those off your hands. I like the shadow grey cloth, but leather FTMFW.
