Today I raced with a CRX and got my ass kicked... that's a shame... how could my '88 Toyota Supra MKIII be beat by an CRX... Anyways I've had it, I've been planing to Mod my car for a long while and I am going to start doing it, but I need some help from you guys....

This is the back ground, I bought the car from a guy that was modding it, it has MSD A6, and a MSD Blaster SS, it also has the MSD 8.5mm Spark Plug wires.

The this is that when ever I step on the car it feels sluggish and it doesn't move as fast as I thought it would...

As far as I know the previous owner also made the car turbo, but took the turbo out because the clutch started slipping and he didn't have anymore money to invest in the car... so I am assuming that the car has the low compression piston already... and I think he had T-O4 turbine on it

I am thinking of buying back all the turbo kit from him and then try to convert it to Turbo.. but then I heard that you can break the W-58 gear box if you put too much horse power on it...

I really don't know where to start, or what should I do... so I need you guys to give me advice on what should I do.. I would appreciate your help

P.S excuse my English... I am from Puerto Rico and its not perfect...
<It is now IJ ;)>

heh. not surprising. a swapped CRX should OWN a NA MKIII....consider the fact that the CRX weighs near HALF as much!

a simple turbo + a good bit of boost should put the stupid honduh back in its place.

UUM, WHO ARE YOU? jk Welcome to Supramania! There is a lot of good info on this site, just start searching.

Just cause he had a turbo, doesn't mean he swapped pistons. If you're N/A, and he's modified, yes, a CRX can beat you.

Do your homework, and plan a build, and I'm sure you can get plenty of help here. You can make that car beat the CRX!

break the engine down and see what you've really got in there. if any of it looks bad, id go with an engine swap and start fresh, if you've got the money. the w58's limit should be around 300hp, with a good clutch. if you experience problems, swap to the r154, these hold almost everything a turbo'ed 7m can throw at it.

since you've said that its got the w58, im assuming its a 7mge-t. if it feels sluggish, might wanna try a lightened flywheel for better throttle response, get rid of some of the excess weight if you can. another way to do this is free up the intake and exhaust, making the engine easier to breathe.

if you do put another turbo on it, make sure your injectors and pump can support it depending on how big a turbo you've got.

forced, i think he was talking about the pistons in his engine from a previous owner :) and it would definitely be sad if a modded crx cant take an NA. we've got good cars, but they're heavy. just takes a little modding is all

Who am i?? the new guy it seems...

thanks for the help guys... well i do have the recipts of every peice he bought.. and it looks he bought 7m-gte pistons and a 7m-gte head gasket...so i asumming it has them... but i was planning of breaking it down to see what i has inside...

about the engine swap... i don't think it would be necesary becuase the engine has been rebuilt already... tough it worries me that it is burning quite a lot of oil...

about the clutch (hope i wrote it right) i an in the process of buying a stage two for a W-58 that says that holds up to 400 pounds of torque

anyways thanks for the imput guys... i am going to start working on it on winter...to see if i can get some more juice out if it... i always dreamed about having a MKIII supra... i will make the best of it

P.s I used to have a MKIV celica GTS...and i loved it... it kicked ass

It could already be a 7MGTE, but deturbo'd. There was a couple of people I heard do this, and a 7MGTE with no turbo is a slow ass dog! Can you get some pics of the motor from as many angles as you can? We can figure it out with some pics. ;)
