Test pipes cause emissions failures but just keep your cat and reinstall it the day before then take it off again after. Only real downfall to the testpipe is your rear bumper and muffler will get coated in carbon from the exhaust. A claybar and wax will fix that but you will do it often.
Well, I feel sort of guilty for not having a cat. Sort of. Not enough so that I would pay to have one. In fact, not enough so that I would pay for a test pipe so that I could install one. I got the RT downpipe that eliminates both cats.
Like you said there is no emissions in Alabama so dont sweat it and just get a test pipe. Any muffler shop will be able to fabricate one for you or you can but one from one of our vendors here in SM. Pm john from mdc motorsports he can fab one for you. TEST PIPE FTW:evil2:
I'll bet that upon inspection, if the vehicle does not have all the correct(what came stock) components that are supposed to be there, it will still fail. You need to be sure of the visual inspection parameters before you try removing required components.
After using a test pipe for awhile I will be reinstalling a 3" cat.
The fumes get annoying after awhile.
Cat's aren't as restrictive as people make them out to be.
most na cars that are slightly modified make more torque and horsepower WITH cats. however, my car is neither naturally asperated, nor "slightly" modified. THEREFORE SMOG!
