i want to test my car and make sure theres no problems. i know theres the compression test, leak down, and i wanna check for boost leaks. what else should i check for and what do i need to do these tests? i also want to change the oil and plugs, what oil filter and oil should i buy and what spark plugs?....i was thinking of using ngk coppers but is there a specific one to ask for?

your test question is like trying to shoot a target in a room with no light.

as for the sparks, NGK copper, one heat range UP (technically going up is going colder with NGK). Personally i use KN oil filter. Oil....well, thats a touchy subject here with jdub around ;). I don't know enough about it (oil) to recommend one brand vs. another or weight vs. another.

well i found my boost leak, the accordion hose split right by the turbo inlet. i discovered it when i found it was loose, i thought it was just the clamp then when i took it off it the split was covered by electrical tape....the last owner sucked at life. does anyone have an accordion hose to sell me for cheap?:biglaugh: also what does the little hose on the bottom connect to, it was disconnected when i took it off.

LOL...not really, unless you want to run some ungodly thick oil on a stock system. ;)
I use Wix filters personally...there is a lot of info in the oil section.

Whatever brand oil you do choose, use 5w30.

Or a 0W-30 like German Castrol ;)
As previously mentioned, Red Line oil is top notch.

now my temp gauge stopped working:cry:....this is turning into a completely different thread lol

Check the connector on the termostat housing. It comes off sometimes, or should I say I had mine come off, and it will cause the gauge to not work.
good luck
