so i just got another supra. after looking at the suspension i notice it has a set of tokico illumina 2. my crashed car has tems. i would like to here from people that have them with tems and if they think it would be worth doing the swap? or from someone that has already done this. also is the wiring there for it? they are both 89t's by the way.

Maybe if you made a more descriptive subject line people would check your thread. "tems" really doesn't say much.

I can't help you with your question, unfortunately :(

The TEMS system has a seperate control unit in the right rear corner of the hatch area under the plastic, near the antenna motor. The actual controller itself is just a switch but the real trouble would be in the sensors associated with speed, steering, and braking aspect of the TEMS shifting from sport to firm on command.

As for having the wiring, I want to say that sometime in the 89 production year they moved to a universal wiring harness for all of the cars giving room for all of the features. The 89 model year is split into early 89 and late 89 with the difference being in the signal lights, wiring(I think), motor mounts(another I think), and a few other options. Check the dates your cars were manufactured, if they are close you should be golden. Again, don't rely on just my word on this. Ask some of the other more experience members to back up my statements.

yes to suprahabsfan. both cars have square mounts so they are early 89's. the thing is i noticed a pretty big difference with my stock shocks and tems from soft to firm. is it the same with the illumina's? when i swap interiors i might do it. i guess my question is how hard is it, but when i pull the interior i will see for my self what all is involved. i do all my own work. i just want to drive the car really. i pulled both motors already. now i'm waiting on a clutch disk. when i get it going i might just have to film a celebration burnout being that i have all these extra tires now. :naughty:

if you have both cars, just swap the wiring from one to the other. Also, an early 89 car without tems does NOT have the appropriate wiring installed.

To be honest I don't think it would be worth the work. Theres a lot of wiring and other stuff to do. If you want a better handling car, you can buy megan/tein basic coilovers

yep. in the end its a nice system but simply not worth the time and effort to swap it.

buy a nice set of coilovers, and run those. it will ride better and handle better then a spring shock combo will (off the shelf)

ALL the wiring. You'll need to swap the body harnesses as well which would mean pulling the dash and all the interior just about. You sure you want to go through all that trouble? I swapped body harnesses just so I could have a supermonitor and I can tell you I will not be doing that again anytime in the near or distant future.
